LG Electronics Nigeria took its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) drive a step further when the Consumer Electronic giant visited the Compassion Centre in Port Harcourt where various LG products were donated to the home.

The atmosphere was filled with fun and excitement as representatives of LG Electronics, interacted freely with children of the home, numbering well over 35, through the refreshments and numerous games that were provided.

“This visit is part of LG Electronics’ Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) activities aimed at putting smiles on the faces of the children of Compassion Centre ensuring that their dreams and aspirations are being achieved,” said Mr. Dave Shin, General Manager, Home Entertainment Division, LG Electronics, in his message to the Organisation.

Speaking further, he said: “We maintain a long-term perspective in relation to our Corporate Identity by providing the “Good Life” to the Nigerian Child as well as engaging the society on a significant level, with a view to empowering and developing the communities we operate in. Despite global economic recession, we have remained focused and shown leadership by tackling key issues that are of concern to our stakeholders and society at large.”

In his own speech, Mr. Mohammed Fouani, Managing Director of Fouani Nigeria Limited, said: “Children are the leaders of tomorrow; and in order to ensure that they are able to live their lives in the best way possible devoid of any form of limitation, they deserve to be given all the love and care.”

“It is my firm belief that the items we are donating will help ameliorate the distress of the children in the home and make everyday life enjoyable for them. It has been proven that young minds thrive when they have the sort of atmosphere that is devoid of distress and need,” Mr. Fouani added.

LG through this event showed itself to be a brand that identifies with the Nigerian child by donating some of their iconic consumer range of electronic products.

The Founder of the home, Sister Pauline, stated:  “We at the Compassion Centre have waited for so long to receive this kind of love and affection from corporate bodies. We are proud of the people from LG for counting us worthy of benefiting from this generosity. Thank you for responding to our needs”.

Speaking further, she said that she hopes other corporate bodies and public spirited individuals take a cue from LG in responding to the needs of the lowly in the society adducing that there are many organizations that deserve such gestures as demonstrated by LG.

LG Electronics has been in the forefront of giving back to the society with first-rate CSR activities and programmes. Recent ones have been the visit of the company’s executives to the SOS Children Village in Isolo, Lagos, as well as the scholarship awarded recently to outstanding students of the University of Lagos. Another topical feat was her partnership with the Lagos State Government in planting over 200 trees to help combat global warming and other threats the environment is exposed to.
