LG Washer & Dryer - How to Use the Child Lock Feature (CL Error Code)

The child lock feature disables control panel buttons and prevents children and others from changing cycle settings during a wash or dry cycle. Turning off the child lock feature on an LG washer or dryer varies depending on the model. The following steps will allow you to turn the feature on or off.

  3. If your washer has a single button child lock (control lock)

    1 Locate your child lock button. which is usually located on the control panel. It may be labeled differently depending on your washer model. Look for a lock icon or a button labeled “Child Lock”, “Control Lock” or “CL”.

    2 Begin a wash cycle. The child lock function can only be enabled with a wash cycle in progress.

    3 Press and hold the [Child Lock] button for 3 to 5 seconds.

    4 Once enabled, a “CL” message will appear on your display panel to notify you that the “Child Lock” function is on.

    Note

    Once enabled, the child lock feature will remain on at the end of the cycle, even when the machine is powered off. If child lock is enabled, you will not be able to start your machine until the child lock feature is turned off.

    5 To turn off child lock, make sure your machine is powered on and then hold the [Child Lock] button for 3 to 5 seconds.

  4. If your washer has a dual button child lock (control lock)

    Note

    The exact steps may vary slightly depending on your LG washer. It is recommended to refer to the owner's manual for specific instructions related to your washer model.

    1 If there is no specific child lock button on your LG washer, find the two buttons on the control panel with a lock symbol.

    2 Begin a wash process. The child lock function can only be enabled with a wash cycle in progress.

    3 Simultaneously press and hold the two buttons for 3-5 seconds.

    4 Once enabled, a “CL” message will appear on your display panel to notify you that the “Child Lock” function is on.
