[LG Front Load Washer] Burning Smell During Use

Troubleshooting

At a Glance

A burning smell may be emitted from the front load washer when running high temperature cycles such as the drying or sanitary cycle.
As the inside of the drum becomes hot, the rubber gasket heats up and emits a burning smell.

Try this.

The washer may emit a burning smell during a drying cycle.
During a drying cycle, heat generated from the heating element is circulated inside the drum.
As the drum becomes hot (the maximum temperature being 100℃), the rubber gasket also becomes hot and emits a burning smell.

In addition, when lint and dust is blown onto the heater, a burning smell may occur.
This smell is prominent when the machine is still new, and the smell will eventually fade after a few uses.

The heating element for the drying function is located on the upper side of the unit and the heating element for the washing function is located on the lower side.

Clean the drum regularly using the Tub Clean cycle

➔ For hygienic maintenance of the drum, run the Tub Clean cycle once a month or after every 30 cycles.

After 30 cycles, the tub clean function activates and the unit will remind you to clean the drum.
