[LG Air Conditioner Noise] Outdoor unit of the air conditioner gets loud and quiet repeatedly

Troubleshooting

Due to the difference between the target temperature and the indoor temperature, the rotation speed for the cooling motor(compressor) of the outdoor unit will vary.
This is similar to your car engine: you speed up, the engine becomes louder, you slow down, the sound becomes softer.
Now, when the rotation speed of the cooling motor goes up, naturally, the motor rotation sound gets loud.
Once the indoor temperature reaches the target temperature, the cooling motor starts rotating slowly and less noises will be heard from the outdoor unit.

Causes and Symptoms

  • During initial operation, or when you lower the target temperature, noises get louder for some time.

Try this

Do you suddenly hear the humming sound from the outdoor unit?

➔ As the indoor temperature gets close to the target temperature, the sound gets less loud naturally.

When you use the cooling function for the first time, in order to reduce the indoor temperature quickly, the cooling motor of the outdoor unit will rotate at very high speed.
After that, as it reaches the target temperature, the number of rotations for the cooling motor is reduced.
Wait until the indoor temperature gets close to the target temperature.
When the temperature difference is reduced, the sound will be quiet.
