LG Air Conditioner - It says [Defrosting] or [Preheating] but there is no hot wind

Troubleshooting

LG Air Conditioner - It says [Defrosting] or [Preheating] but there is no hot wind

1. What is defrosting operation?

  1. What the Defrosting Code Means :

  2. Why It Happens :
During heating, warm air circulates indoors, while the outdoor unit creates cold air . This difference in temperature causes ice to form on the outdoor unit.

  3. What Happens During Defrosting :
To melt the ice, the system temporarily stops heating and raises the temperature of the outdoor unit . This is called the defrosting operation .

  4. Defrosting Process :
During this process, the ice melts and vapors are generated .

  5. 2. What is pre heating operation?

  • What the Pre-Heating Code Means :
The pre-heating code alerts you that pre-heating is in progress during the heating operation.

  • Why Pre-Heating Happens :
During heating, the air conditioner circulates warm refrigerant to the indoor unit to raise the pipe temperature before it starts producing hot air. As a result, there is no hot wind immediately .

  • Factors Affecting Pre-Heating :

    • If the outdoor temperature drops below -15°C (5°F) , the pre-heating process may take longer than usual.
    • In such cases, you may feel lukewarm air instead of hot air at first.
  • Try this

What to Do if You See [Defrosting] and No Hot Air is Coming Out:

    1. Understand the Defrosting Code :

    2.

The [ Defrosting ] code indicates that the air conditioner is melting ice ( frost ) from the outdoor unit during heating.

    3. Wait for Heating to Start :

      • Do not turn off the air conditioner.
      • Wait for 5 to 15 minutes , and the heating will start automatically.
    4. Note :
The defrosting and preheating display may vary depending on the model.

What to Do If You See [Preheating] and No Warm Air is Coming Out:

    1.     Understand the Preheating Code :
The [ Preheating ] code indicates that the air conditioner is preheating during the heating operation.

    2.       Why No Warm Air?
During heating, the unit circulates warm refrigerant to raise the pipe temperature. If the required temperature isn’t reached, no hot air will come out immediately.

    3.     Temperature Impact :
If the outdoor temperature is below -15°C (5°F) , preheating may take longer, and you might feel lukewarm air instead of hot air.
