FAQs

Q.

What type of oven is right for me?

A.

The right oven depends on your cooking habits, kitchen layout and desired functionalities. Consider what's most important to you regarding fuel type, placement, cooking technology and unique features to narrow your choices. Here are the main classifications:

●      By Fuel Type — Ovens primarily use either electricity or gas. Electric ovens are favoured for their precise temperature control, even heat distribution and energy efficiency. On the other hand, gas ovens offer a more traditional cooking style and are often preferred by bakers who appreciate the moist heat they generate. However, gas ovens may have less precise temperature control and require a gas connection in your kitchen.

●      By Installation — This refers to how the oven is integrated into your kitchen. Built-in ovens fit seamlessly into your cabinetry, while under-bench ovens are installed below the countertop.

●      Technology — Ovens can differ in how they distribute heat. With LG, however, you get numerous cooking technologies in one electric oven. Depending on the model, Series 9 ovens boast up to six cooking technologies, including convection, steam, air fryer, sous vide, dehydrator and pizza oven. When it comes to cleaning, consider ovens with a pyrolytic self-cleaning function, which uses high heat to incinerate food residue.

Q.

What should I look for when buying an oven?

A.

Choosing a new oven can feel overwhelming with so many options available. First, consider your cooking habits. How often do you bake, and what dishes do you usually prepare? This will help you determine the size and features that best suit your needs. Consider whether you prioritise baking, quick preheating or specific cooking functions like convection or air frying.

Next, look for functionalities that enhance convenience and efficiency. Features like self-cleaning, smart connectivity and quick preheating can save you time and effort.  Don't forget to factor in design aesthetics to find an oven that seamlessly integrates with your lifestyle and kitchen décor.

Q.

Are electric ovens better than gas?

A.

Both electric and gas ovens have their advantages and disadvantages. The "better" choice depends on your individual cooking preferences and needs. Electric ovens are known for their precise temperature control, even heat distribution and energy efficiency. They are also easier to clean, especially those pyrolytic self-cleaning ovens.

Gas ovens, on the other hand, offer a more traditional cooking style with moist heat that some bakers prefer. They tend to preheat faster than electric ovens and provide instant heat response. However, they may have less precise temperature control than electric models and require a gas connection in your kitchen.

Q.

What is a pyrolytic oven?

A.

A pyrolytic oven is a self-cleaning oven that uses extremely high temperatures to burn away food residue, turning it into ash that can be easily wiped. This helps to eliminate the need for harsh chemicals or scrubbing, making oven cleaning much less of a chore.

LG offers a range of pyrolytic ovens with various cleaning programs to suit different levels of soiling. Some include other convenient features like EasyClean® technology, which uses steam to soften residue for easier cleaning.
