Error codes help identify problems causing your LG dryer to not function properly. Most errors codes on your LG dryer can be resolved easily with a few troubleshooting steps.
If your dryer is showing one of these codes, it indicates that the airflow is restricted somewhere between the dryer and the outside exhaust exit.
While this is typically a signal to have the yearly vent cleaning completed by a professional vent cleaner, here is the list of possible resolutions without a vent specialist.
1. Inside the Dryer
- Remove lint from the lint tray between each load.
- Clean the lint tray with warm water and a soft brush, then allow to dry before reinstalling.
- Reduce the load size to allow air to pass through from back to front.
2. Behind the Dryer
- Check that the exhaust hose between the dryer and the wall is not crushed, dented, kinked, or compressed.
- Verify it is not coiled circle over circle like a spring.
- Confirm there are no holes in the exhause hose and no loose connections.
- Verify that whatever duct type you use (Rigid, Semi-Rigid, or Flexible) is not crushed or kinked.
3. Outside of the Home
- • Locate the exhaust outlet on the outside of your home.
- ⋅ This may have flappers, a cage, or mesh to block animals or debris from entering.
- • Verify flappers can open all the way.
- ⋅ These can get jammed by lint. If you run the Air Dry cycle, you should see them fully opened.
- • Remove any visible lint around the exhaust.

A nP error code indicates there is no current being detected at the heater. This normally indicates a problem with the electrical wiring in the home.
1. Check power cord connection.
Make sure the power cord is securely plugged into a grounded outlet matching the dryer's rating plate of 240V.
2. Reset the circuit breaker.
From the home's main, turn OFF the dryer's circuit breaker for at least 10 seconds to clear the power surge inside the breaker.
3. Inspect home outlet.
If the nP error is displaying, the home's outlet may need to be checked by a licensed electrician in order to ensure that the correct voltage is supplied to the dryer.
4. Request a Repair.
If the dryer is still not heating at this stage, the unit requires a repair service.
A PS error code on the dryer's display indicates that there is improper voltage with the power cord,
which could be caused by the white and red wire connections being reversed on the dryer's terminal block.
1. Check power cord connection.
Check the power cord installation on the back of the dryer. The videos below explains dryer installation.
4-Wire
3-Wire
2. Reset the circuit breaker.
From the home's main, turn OFF the dryer's circuit breaker for at least 10 seconds to clear the power surge inside the breaker.

Make sure the power cord is securely plugged into a grounded outlet matching the dryer's rating plate of 240V.
4. Request a Repair.
If the dryer is still not heating at this stage, the unit requires a repair service.
A dE error code means that the dryer door is not completely closed. This might be a result of:
- Door not completely closed.
Open the door and make sure the filter is pushed all the way in and that there are no articles of clothing stuck on the door - Door Misaligned.
If the unit is brand new, is there any noticeable damage or the frame of the unit (such as the door bent)? If so, please contact the dealer.
If the problem is not a dent or damage, please try the following:
1. Reset the unit by unplugging it from power, or trip the circuit breaker.
2. Wait 5 sec.
3. Plug unit back in.
4. Close door firmly.
5. Select any cycle and press Start.
6. If the unit gives the code again, the unit will need service.
An E13 error code on the dryer's display indicates that the drain hose is kinked, crushed, clogged, or that the water in the sump is frozen.
If the E13 error code is showing on the dryer's display:
1. Check that the drain hose is not kinked, twisted, or clogged with water at the end of the hose.
2. If the drain hose was extended, the dryer will not drain well because of the increased resistance. It is recommended to only use the standard LG drain hose.
3. Press the START/PAUSE button to start the dryer again after checking that the drain hose is not kinked, twisted, or clogged.
If the E13 error code occurs again, the unit will require a repair service.
An FO error or a flashing INSERT FILTER on the dryer's display indicates that the lint filter should be checked to ensure that it is inserted properly.
When the lint filter is not inserted properly, the sensor inside the dryer will display FO, and the dryer will stop working.
Remove the lint filter and reinsert it into the lint filter housing.
If the error continues to appear on the display screen, the unit may require a repair service.
HS error code on the dryer's display indicates that the dryer has detected an error with the HUMIDITY SENSOR.
The HS error code will cause the dryer to run for 21/2 hours, which may seem as though the dryer is not drying.
If the HS error is displayed, clean the sensors on the inside of the dryer, located below the lint filter. Allow the sensors to fully dry before attempting another cycle.
If the HS error code persists, the unit may require a repair service.
This usually happens after a power outage. To fix it, we're going to do a factory reset.
1. Unplug the dryer or trip the circuit breaker supplying power to the dryer off.
2. While the dryer is without power, press and hold the Start/Pause button for 5 sec.
3. Restore power and try to run a cycle.
If the PF error code persists, the unit may require a repair service.
A tE1 error code on the display of the dryer indicates a problem was detected with the dryer's thermistor. If the tE1 error code is showing on the dryer's display:
1. Unplug the dryer, or trip the circuit breaker supplying power to the dryer.
2. While the dryer remains without power, press and hold the START/PAUSE button for 5 seconds.
3. Restore power to the dryer and attempt to run another cycle.
If the tE1 error code occurs again after resetting the dryer, the unit may require a repair service.
A tE2 error code on the display indicates a problem was detected with the dryer's thermistor, normally during cold conditions.
A tE2 error code can occur during the SteamFresh™, Steam Sanitary™, or Steam Option, due to the duct cooling down too quickly.
1.Ensure the Lint Filter Is Clean
- Remove lint from the lint tray between each load.
- Clean the lint tray with warm water and a soft brush, then allow to dry before reinstalling.
2. Check the vents for clogs and blockages.
- Locate the exhaust outlet on the outside of your home
- This may have flappers, a cage, or mesh to block animals or debris from entering.
- Verify the flappers can open all the way.
- These can get jammed by lint. If you run Air Dry Cycle, you should see them fully opened.
- Remove any visible lint around the exhaust.
If the tE2 error code occurs again after resetting the dryer, the unit may require a repair service.
The FE error code indicates that the washer is overfilling. This is usually the result of faulty water valve.
To fix this:
1. Close both water taps.
2. In order to drain out any trapped water, power the washer back on, and press the spin speed button until no spin is selected, and press the START/PAUSE button.
3. Once the washer has drained, restart the washing cycle.
If the FE error code persists, the unit will require a repair service.
A gAS error code means that the dryer is not receiving gas.
- Make sure that the gas supply valve is turned ON.
- make sure the gas line is not kinked.
If the has line is connected properly, not kinked and the valve is ON, the unit will require a repair service.
If your dryer has a child lock button
1. Locate your child lock button. which is usually located on the control panel. It may be labeled differently depending on your dryer model. Look for a lock icon or a button labeled “Child Lock”, “Control Lock” or “CL”.

If the Add Water reading appears on the dryer's display after a cycle has started:
- 1. Press PAUSE to temporarily stop the running cycle.
- 2. Fill the steam feeder with tap water to the MAX fill line.

- Check the inlet hose so the water can flow normally
- Check and clean the inlet filter.
- Remove any residue.
- Check the water inlet valve.
If the E05 error code occurs again after resetting the dryer, the unit may require a repair service.
- The nE error indicates a problem with the connection between the control panel and the Wi-Fi module of the unit.
- The nF error code indicates a problem with the Wi-Fi module on the unit.
This error code will require service to resolve.
