• The Difference Between Multi V 5 and Split ACs

LG dedicates many HVAC solutions and air solutions to fulfil the needs of businesses and residential properties. Its wide range of solutions includes Multi V 5 and split ACs. Both product types have main differences regardless of the similarities they share.

Continue reading to discover the differences and similarities between LG Multi V 5 and the split ACs. But first, let us showcase a quick overview of what HVAC and air solutions are designed to do.

  • What Are HVAC Solutions and Air Solutions?

HVAC solutions refer to heating, ventilation, and air conditioning solutions. They utilise various technologies and units to control the air’s temperature, humidity, and cleanliness in enclosed spaces.

HVAC solutions can be considered air quality solutions, as both operate to purify the air, in addition to effectively ventilating indoor spaces.

  • Multi V 5 and Split ACs: The Main Differences

  • ● What Is Multi V 5?

LG Multi V 5 is an integrated air quality solution. It combines many advanced technologies to heat, cool and purify the air. It is used in each of the following:

    1. Offices in high-rise office buildings.
    2. Offices in small to medium-sized office buildings.
    3. Commercial buildings such as shopping malls, in addition to retail shops and fast food restaurants.
    4. Hotels.
    5. Hospitals.
    6. Educational institutes.
    7. Airports.
    8. Condominiums and apartments.
    9. Single-family houses and villas.

The Multi V 5 is an outdoor unit operating alongside an indoor unit with powerful air purification and efficient ventilation. There are varying options for the indoor units as follows:

    ● Ceiling cassettes (2-way, 1-way, and 4-way).
    ● Wall mounted.
    ● Round cassettes.
    ● Ducted units.
    ● Ceiling suspended.

  • ● What Are Split Air Conditioners?

The LG split air conditioners are distinguished from typical ACs with their LG DUAL Inverter Compressor™. This compressor is the core of most split ACs' features. More about them later.

Split ACs are used to cool and heat houses and apartments only. Business needs are fulfilled with specific HVAC solutions from LG, as the latter is designed for more complex heating, cooling and ventilation demands.

So, all things considered, what are the main differences between both solutions?

    1. The Multi V 5 solution fits residential properties, businesses and commercial buildings, unlike the split ACs, as they only fit apartments and houses.
    2. In addition, Multi V 5 is a variable refrigerant flow system, also known as VRF. It is a centralised air conditioning system comprising one outdoor unit that serves a number of indoor units. As for split ACs, they consist of one outdoor unit serving one indoor unit.

These differences bring forth the similar features both solutions share.

  • Multi V 5 and Split ACs: Similar Features

  • 1. Energy Efficiency

The Multi V 5 is one of the most energy efficient HVAC systems, similar to split ACs that utilise many technologies for saving energy.

Building owners and developers, in addition to construction companies, all search for energy-efficient air quality solutions. That is motivated by the need to provide end users with pure and cool or warm air for long periods.

In order to minimise energy consumption, the Multi V 5 has an energy navigation system. It enables the user to set target values of energy consumption over a particular period.

And to help achieve the set value, the administrator sets the energy-saving logic in 7 steps and predicts the expected usage relative to the target value. This process helps save energy throughout the building.

Additionally, the energy saving efficiency in Multi V 5 increased by 3% with the energy efficiency rating (EER) and 21% with the seasonal energy efficiency ratio.

On the other hand, split air conditioners cool your space efficiently while simultaneously saving energy. All LG inverter air conditioners save up to 70% more energy than non-inverter air conditioners.

  • 2. Dual Sensing Control and Fast Cooling

Multi V 5 utilises the Dual Sensing Control function. It concerns sensible heat load and latent heat load; the sensible one refers to the air conditioner's capacity to reduce temperature, while latent capacity is its ability to remove humidity.

The sensible and latent heat loads are the basis of the cooling load, which is majorly affected by external humidity rather than the outdoor temperature.

As a result, the Dual Sensing Control function senses temperature and humidity. It then applies sensed data for load control to understand sensible heat load and latent heat load.

In other words, this process prevents excessive cooling load supply, reducing energy consumption and offering a highly pleasant and comfortable cooling environment for the end users. With this function, the Multi V 5 operation remains comfortable and economical.

Similarly, the split air conditioners cater to your comfort and convenience. The LG DUAL Inverter Compressor™ powering these ACs enable their fast cooling feature, so you get comfortable in your space in no time.

    Faster cooling, faster comfort!

  • 3. Auto Dust Removal and Auto Cleaning Feature

The Multi V 5 units implement the auto-dust removal feature. Given by the name, this function removes dust from the outdoor unit’s heat exchanger, as the unit’s fan(s) rotate reversely to blow off the dust.

Similar to this feature, the split air conditioners from LG have an auto-cleaning feature. It automatically dries moisture inside the air conditioner to ensure it's always clean. Auto-cleaning also prevents bad smells from coming from the AC and any respiratory health issues resulting from accumulated dirt in the AC.

Moreover, the split ACs trap big dust from the start, using its pre-filter feature.

  • 4. Low-Noise Operation

The previous models of Multi V enable low-noise operation only during the night, as nighttime is considered noise-sensitive. However, with the most recent Multi V 5 models, you can switch the low-noise function on and off, depending on how noise-sensitive the space is.

The split air conditioners cool your home quickly and efficiently while operating at minimum noise levels, so your comfort does not get disturbed.
