LG Air Conditioner - The remote controller does not work so well

Troubleshooting


It works if I press the function button on the main body of stand or wall mounted type, but if I press the button on the remote controller, nothing happens.

Causes and Symptoms

  • Battery in the remote controller is discharged.
  • There is a problem with the signal sending part of the remote controller.
  • When I press the button on the remote controller, some functions do not run.
  • Because of the strong lights from the surrounding, EMI exists.

Does the display window on the remote control not turn on even when you press a button on the remote control?

➔ Replace the batteries with new ones.

The batteries may have been discharged, so open the cover on the back of the remote control and replace the batteries with new ones.
Then, press the [Run/Stop] button on the remote control to see if the display window turns on.
If nothing appears on the display window or letters appear and then disappear after fitting new batteries, your remote control may be inoperative.

Does the remote control still not work even though the display window on the remote control lights up?

➔ Use the camera function on your cell phone to see if the remote control transmits a wireless signal properly.

1. With the camera shooting function of your Android cell phone activated, point the camera lens at the top of the remote control.
2. While watching the LCD of your cell phone, press the [Run/Stop] button on the remote control repeatedly.

3. If the remote control still does not work while the light is visible, it is necessary to check the receiver of the floor standing or wall-mounted air conditioner.

➔ Check the location of the remote control receiver.

When using the remote control, point the remote control at the receiver on the product.
The remote control may not work well if it is out of its reception distance (7m) and on too much of an angle.
It is recommended to use the remote control when it is facing the front of the product and the reception angle is within 45 degrees left and right from the front.
When a button on the remote control is pressed, A ringing signal sound should be heard, which indicates that the air conditioner body is receiving a command normally.

Is there a product nearby emitting strong lights such as three band radiation fluorescent light?

➔ If the product emits strong lights, then turn it off and operate the remote controller again.

The remote controller may not work in a place where there is strong light, such as three band radiation fluorescent light or a neon sign, due to interference.
In this case, turn off and then press the button on the remote controller.
If the remote controller still does not work, then it might a problem with the remote controller.

Separating and storing batteries separately when you do not use the remote control for a long period of time can prevent the batteries from discharging and causing a remote control failure.
* If the remote control is not used for a long period of time with the batteries inserted, battery fluid may leak and cause a remote control failure.
