Why Your Refrigerator Door Pops Open and Closes
The door might pop open and close by itself due to air pressure changes inside the refrigerator. This happens because cold air circulates between the freezer and refrigerator compartments. When you open and close the door, the pressure from the inside and outside air causes this effect.
What to Do:
- Check the Door: If the door closes properly after it pops open, it’s just normal air pressure causing this.
- No Defect: Don’t worry—this is not a defect. It's a normal part of how the refrigerator works.
Troubleshooting a Refrigerator Door That Doesn’t Close Properly
Check Food Placement: Make sure large food items aren’t sticking out from the shelves. Remove any items if they’re in the way and see if the door closes properly.
Inspect the Door Rack: Ensure that food in the door bottle rack isn’t sticking out and interfering with the door.
Examine Shelves and Racks: If you recently cleaned the refrigerator, check that all shelves and bottle racks are properly assembled.
Look for Obstructions: Check if anything on top of the refrigerator is caught in the door.
Clean the Door Gasket: If there’s debris on the door gasket, wipe it thoroughly with a hot, steamed towel.
Check the Gasket: Run your hands over the door gasket. If any part is loose or drooping, press it back into place.
