LG electric range - It turns off frequently in the middle of operation

Troubleshooting

Does the induction turn off and is [H] displayed while it's operating?
Does the highlight turn off and on repeatedly during operation?

Understanding Overheating Prevention on LG Induction Ranges

What Happens:

  • LG induction ranges have an overheating prevention system.
  • If the cookware gets too hot on the large burner, the range automatically stops working to avoid accidents.
  • The burner can turn off and on to control heat, but this doesn’t actually reduce the cooking temperature; it just cycles to maintain it.

What to Do:

  • High Temperature: If you cooked at a high temperature, the overheating prevention might have activated. This is normal.
  • Indicator [H]: The [H] symbol will disappear once the temperature drops below a certain level.
  • Cooking Tips:

    • Use lower heat to gradually increase the cookware’s temperature.
    • Keep the frying pan on the burner and avoid removing it if possible.
    • The overheating prevention only affects the large burner. If the large burner turns off frequently even at low heat, try using the medium burner instead.
Using an intermediate burner

Did you set the low heating power level of the highlight or did the temperature of the cooktop rise after using it for a long time?

Understanding Power Cycling on LG Induction Ranges

  • Power Cycling: It’s normal for the power to turn on and off to keep the cooktop at the right temperature.
  • Constant Heat: If you prefer the cooktop to stay on without cycling, set the heating power to level 9. It will run continuously, but it still cycles if the burner temperature reaches 550℃.
  • Higher Heat: For even more heat, use the dual function. Select the large burner and press the [Dual] button. This will turn on a red light and make the large burner bigger.
Use dual buttons to enable dual functionality
Wait! Find out more.
When you press the [Dual] button while all 3 burners are operating, an alarm will sound twice and the dual function will not operate.
If you use a small or medium burner and a large burner at the same time and use the dual function, the dual function is automatically turned off if you operate another burner.
The dual function of the highlight is only available in the 3-burner models [BER3G*].
