[LG TV Remote Control] I can’t turn on the TV with my remote control

Troubleshooting

Is your remote control unresponsive?

Causes and Symptoms

  • I can’t turn on the TV with my remote control.
  • The TV doesn’t seem to receive signals from my remote control.

Try this

Is the power switch on the TV turned off? (Applies to select LED/LCD models.)

➔ If the front standby light is off, set the AC power switch at the bottom of the product to [ON].

If you have turned off your TV with the power switch at the bottom, you cannot turn it on with the remote control.

※ The location of the AC power switch may differ by product model.

Is any of the left/right remote receivers at the bottom of the product blocked by an object?

➔ Remove the object blocking the receiver at the bottom of the TV.

If the remote receiver is blocked, the signal from the remote control cannot be received.

Is the [TV] mode set with your remote control?

➔ Press the [TV] button at the top of the remote control to start the mode.

※ Only applies to select remote control models with a product selection button.

Is the TV unresponsive to the remote control while watching it?

➔ Turn off the ambient lamp (ballast) and try using your remote control again.

The remote control may malfunction due to frequency interference from three-wavelength fluorescent lamps (ballasts).

※ The frequency of the remote control is 38 kHz.

Does the remote control suddenly become unresponsive while using it?

➔ Replace the remote control batteries.

The remote control will not work if the batteries run low or if they are inserted in the wrong direction.

How to change the batteries of a standard/simple remote control

① Slide down the battery cover on the back of the remote control to open it.

② Check the polarity (positive and negative) signs inside the compartment. (e.g. 1.5 V, AAA type)

③ Always replace all batteries.
