[LG Audio] I made a connection TV with an optical cable, but there is no sound.

Troubleshooting

Is there no sound from the device after connecting it with an optical cable when you try to connect TV to the sound bar?

Causes and Symptoms

  • There is something wrong with the setting of a connection between the sound bar and TV.

If you connect the sound bar and TV via an optical cable, you can enjoy deeper and richer sounds from TV.
However, if there is something wrong with the function selection for the sound bar or the speaker output setting for TV, then there might be no sound despite video being displayed properly.

If the TV volume is set too high, then when you connect the sound bar, you will hear the beeping sound or howling of your voice.
Before making a connection, minimize the TV volume and adjust the sound volume with the sound bar remote control.

Did you check if the connection between the sound bar and TV is ok?

→ Refer to the following instructions when connecting the sound bar and TV again.

① Using an optical cable, connect the optical digital voice input port at the rear of the sound bar to the optical digital out port on the side or front of TV.

② Repeatedly press the [F(Function)] button on the sound bar to select the [OPT/HDMI ARC] function of the display for the sound bar.

③ After long pressing the [Settings] button of the TV remote control, select [Sound] in the main Settings menu.
After that, go to the [Output Speaker] list and select [LG Sound Sync(Optical Digital)].
Once TV and the sound bar are connected, the display of the sound bar will show [LG OPT].

④ Press the [Volume] button on the TV remote control to open the volume window in the right bottom of the TV screen.
If the sound volume is adjusted with the remote control and there is sound from the sound bar, then it means that the connection is ok.
