[LG washing machine frozen] Mini Washer is frozen and cannot operate (water cannot be supplied or drained)

Troubleshooting

If cold weather continues, the water supply hose or the drain hose through which water enters the Mini Washer may be frozen.
In such a case, remove laundry from the Mini Washer and melt/thaw any ice inside the machine.

Causes and Symptoms

  • [FF] (Freeze Failure), [OE] (Water Outlet Error) or [IE] (Water Inlet Error) appears on the display window and the Mini Washer is inoperable.

Try this

If the inside door of the Mini Washer will not open, thaw it using a towel soaked in hot water.

➔ When the ice melts and the inside door opens, check if the Mini Washer operates normally.

Thawing the Mini Washer drawer
1. Pull out and remove the Mini Washer and check if the inside door opens.
If it does not open, soak a towel in hot water and wrap it around the inside door and wait 5 minutes.

2. When the ice melts, open the inside door.
If there is laundry, remove it.
Warning!

Opening and closing the drawer forcibly whilst the inside of the Mini Washer is frozen may damage parts and may result in a failure.

Is an IE error displayed or is water not supplied to the tub?

➔ Thaw the water supply hose and the faucet using hot water.

IE error displayed

An [IE] (Water Inlet Error) error is displayed when a proper amount of water is not supplied to the tub within approximately 8 minutes.
If the water supply hose or the faucet is frozen so that water is not supplied to the washing machine, thaw the water supply hose and the faucet as below.

Thawing the faucet and the water supply hose
1. Separate the water supply hose from the Mini Washer, turn on the faucet and see if water comes out of the faucet.

Does [FF] or [OE] appear on the display window?

➔ Thaw the tub and the drain hose with hot water.

Thawing the tub and the drain hose
1. Take out any laundry from the Mini Washer.
2. Pour enough warm water of 50-60ºC into the tub.
At this time, an amount of water to submerge the tub blades is appropriate.
Next, close the inside door and wait approximately 1 hour for the inside of the drain pump to thaw.

7. At this time, if [OE] is displayed, it indicates that the inside of the drain hose is frozen. Soak a towel in hot water and wrap it around the frozen part of the drain hose to thaw it.
8. Now, ice in the Mini Washer has been completely removed.
Turn on the power and select [Rinse+Spin] and see if the washing machine operates normally.

Managing the Mini Washer to avoid freezing
If you intend not to use the Mini Washer for a long period of time during cold winter, remove any water remaining in the Mini Washer to prevent it from being frozen.
