[Cooling] Water dripping from the outdoor unit

Troubleshooting

■ Title

[Cooling] Water dripping from the outdoor unit

■ Problem

  Leakage

■ Symptom

Outdoor unit leakage / White steam

■ Possible Cause

Cold refrigerant circulates inside the outdoor unit.

The condensation issue is normal for the appliance as it is the result of the temperature difference between the unit and

  the warm air around it.

Just like how we notice water droplets forming on the surface of cold drinks when its places out at a room temperature,

the condensation on the outdoor unit happens for the same reason.

On days with high humidity like during the rainy season, you may also notice water drops falling down from the outdoor unit,

caused by the temperature difference between the pipe inside the outdoor unit and the atmosphere.

The issue is not a product defect as the puddle of water formed under the outdoor unit will evaporate.

Solution or Settings

It is recommended to install a cover for the piping if there is a lot of water dripping down from the outdoor unit.

The piping cover can be purchased through the LG Electronics Service Center and will be charged

if you request  the installation service visit from the service technician

(service visit fee + components fee).

The piping cover prevents the condensation from flowing into the outdoor unit and dripping down

  to the ground.
