[LG Front Load Washer] Assembling the separated handle of the drain pump filter

Troubleshooting

When cold weather continues, the water supply hose or the drain hose, in which water flows inside the washer, may freeze.
The washer can be thawed by pouring hot water into the drum.
However, if you open the drain pump filter when the washer is not completely thawed, the handle of the drain pump filter may separate.
This is because the water in the drain pump is frozen.

The handle separated from the drain pump filter.

Try this

Use hot water to thaw the washer.

➔ Melt any ice in the drum and drain hose and check if the washer operates normally.

Thawing the drum and the drain hose
① Open the door and take out the laundry.
② Pour hot water that is between 50 to 60ºC (122 to 140ºF) into the drum, close the door and wait about 1 to 2 hours until the drain pump is thawed.
Pour hot water into the drum, wait for 1 to 2 hours, and drain water from the hose.
③ Locate the access panel in the lower front of your front-load washer. Open the access panel. Remove the cap of the drain hose, drain the water and insert the cap back.
If no water comes out, then it means the ice has not melted sufficiently. Wait a little longer to drain the water.
④ Turn on the power, and select [Rinse (once)] to check if the washer works normally.
⑤ If the display reads [IE] (Water Inlet Error) and water is not supplied to the drum, thaw the water supply hose.
Warning!

Do not use boiling water as it can cause serious injuries. Only use warm water.

Take out the drain pump filter from the washer.

➔ Use a wrench to hold onto the protruded part of the drain pump filter and turn it to remove it.
If removing the pump filter is difficult, thaw the washer one more time, following the above steps.
