Soundbars have an HDMI In and Output. Many customers use the wrong type of connection when connecting the soundbar to a television.
They mistakenly believe that since the sound is coming from the television going into the soundbar, that they should use the hdmi in.
However televisions do not send sound output over hdmi. Television can send sound output over the ARC function of an HDMI.
The ARC function works with an HDMI input signal, and the return channel is used to send audio output.
To properly connect the television to the soundbar, customers have to connect the HDMI out of the soundbar to an
HDMI port of the television and enable the ARC function.
The HDMI in port on the soundbar can be used to connect a gamesystem or a bluray player.
The video signal of the HDMI input is copied to the output, The television can be used to play this signal. The sound is played over the soundbar.
Another option to connect the television to the soundbar is to use an optical cable.
