Solar supply chains are complex. Due to the tariffs placed on solar panels imported into the United States, many manufacturers use contract manufacturing networks to provide cost-efficient scale to serve market demands.
At LG, we don’t believe in outsourcing the production of our solar products. We produce all of our solar panels in our own in-house manufacturing facilities in Gumi, South Korea, and Huntsville, Alabama. Why? We think it’s the best way to oversee and maintain the high quality of our products, which we back with a 25-year limited material, low degradation performance guarantee, and labor reimbursement to serve valid warranty claims (with up to $450 of labor covered by the warranty in the rare case that a solar panel has to be repaired or replaced).
LG is focused on the quality of every solar panel that enters the market with our name on it. At our own manufacturing facilities, we can be sure every product is manufactured with the materials we choose under stringent quality control procedures. We also test our solar panels in our own testing laboratory, which is certified by TÜV Rheinland and Underwriters Laboratories. Our goal is to provide the highest possible quality so we can live up to our reputation as a trusted global brand.
LG opened a solar plant in Huntsville, Alabama in 2019 with a total capacity of 550 MW. That’s enough solar panels for more than 91,000 homes every year (assuming a 6kW system average). Additional NeON® 2 solar panels and our NeON® R line are manufactured in our factory in Gumi, South Korea.
