nd Error Code
A "nd" error code on an LG Dryer indicates a "no drain" condition, usually usually due to a clogged drain hose or debris filter, or a kinked or crushed vent hose.
-
Check for Clogged Drain Hose or Debris Filter:
- Open the debris filter access cover, remove the cover, and clean the filter thoroughly.
- Check for any kinks, crushing, or clogs in the drain hose itself.
-
Check for Airflow Restrictions
- Clean the lint filter after each load, as lint buildup can restrict airflow.
- Make sure the vent hose between the dryer and the wall isn't crushed, bent, or kinked.
- Check that the dryer vent hood on the exterior of your home isn't clogged with debris and that the flappers can open fully.
- If the problem persists, consider having the dryer vent professionally cleaned.

GAS Error Code
A error code means that the dryer is not receiving gas.
Troubleshooting a 9A5 message on an LG gas dryer.
If your LG gas dryer is showing what looks like a 9A5 code on the display, here’s what to do.
The 9A5 is not an error code, but rather a display message that allows the LG dryer to communicate a problem. The 9A5 display message is actually spelling “GAS,” and that means the machine is not getting the proper gas supply.
The first step is to locate the gas valve and make sure the valve is fully open. Also check if the gas supply line is connected to the dryer, and that it is not kinked or bent.
If the dryer is newly installed and opening the valve does not resolve the issue, or if the gas line looks damaged, please contact the installer.
If the dryer is not new and the gas valve is fully open, please contact LG to request service. For more LG dryer troubleshooting tips visit the LG.com Help Library.
-
Make sure that the gas supply valve is turned ON.
-
make sure the gas line is not kinked.
If the has line is connected properly, not kinked and the valve is ON, the unit will require a repair service.
If the error code persists, the unit may require a repair service, reach out to our 24/7 Chat Support for further assistance.
nP Error Code
A nP error code indicates there is no current being detected at the heater. This normally indicates a problem with the electrical wiring in the home.
Troubleshooting an nP error message on an LG dryer.
LG makes it easy to diagnose problems with your dryer should you run into any Issues. If an issue occurs the dryer is programmed to communicate diagnostic messages displayed as codes that can assist you or a technician in getting the unit back to optimum performance.
If you are seeing an nP code on your LG dryers display this indicates that there is a problem with the electrical wiring in the home and that no current is being detected at the heater.
Here are a few troubleshooting steps that may help you resolve the issue. First check the power cord connection and make sure the power cord is securely plugged into a grounded outlet matching the dryer's rating plate of 240 volts.
Next locate the circuit breaker in your home that supplies power to the dryer. Turn it off for at least 10 seconds to clear any power surge inside the breaker. If the nP code remains, inspect the home outlet. The outlet may need to be checked by a licensed electrician in order to ensure that the correct voltage is supplied to the dryer.
If the outlet checks out fine, the unit may require repair service. Please visit our request repair page for further assistance. You can easily find our contact information on the LG.com website. Go to the support menu to ask us more questions.

Show Script[LG Dryers] 4-Wire Power Cord Installation
LG makes it easy to properly install and set up your new electric dryer. This video will take you through the step-by-step process so you can start using the many features your LG dryer has to offer.
Place the unit where it is to be installed, leaving the back exposed. To be safe, make sure that the cord is not plugged in and turn the breaker off that connects to your laundry outlet. During installation, you can also refer to the installation diagram provided for you located near the terminal.
Remove the screws holding the terminal block access cover and pull off the access cover. Install a UL listed strain relief into the power cord through hole and then thread the four-wire power cord through the strain relief. A cord strain relief is required to prevent an accidental pull from the unit.
You will notice a black, white and red wire connected to the terminal block and a white ground wire connected on the green screw mount. Remove the bottom row of screws for each block. Also remove the green ground screw, which is holding in place the white neutral wire.
Place your white ground wire and your white neutral wire to the center terminal block and securely screw into place. Match the other colored wires to their coordinating terminal blocks and screw each wire on tightly with no gap or slack.
Finally, screw the green screw back on the mount and screw the access cover back into place.
Plug your new LG dryer into the outlet and you are all ready to go.

tE2 Error Code
A error code on the display indicates a problem was detected with the dryer's thermistor, normally during cold conditions.
A error code can occur during the SteamFresh™, Steam Sanitary™, or Steam Option, due to the duct cooling down too quickly.
Troubleshooting Winter Drying Performance / TE2 Error Code
If you are experiencing slow drying times or poor drying performance, start by making sure to check that the lint filter is clean. Make sure that your vents are not clogged with lint or other objects during the winter months. Please check to make sure that vents are clear and free of snow and ice and that roof and outside vents aren't covered in snow and are not frozen shut.
If you are seeing a tE2 error message when you try to use a steam cycle, it is possible that extremely cold weather conditions or improper venting is causing this to happen. The tE2 error code usually occurs when cold air from the outside comes back into your dryer through an open exhaust vent. Make sure that your louvers and flaps are operating properly to prevent it from happening again. Check for snow frost or any type of buildup that may cause it to stay open.
You can also fix this issue by running the dryer empty on a different cycle to warm it up for a few minutes. Another solution is to turn on the dryer and select the steam fresh cycle. Press the more time button until you select the big or bulky option. Start the cycle.
- Ensure the Lint Filter Is Clean
- Remove lint from the lint tray between each load.
- Clean the lint tray with warm water and a soft brush, then allow to dry before reinstalling.
- Check the vents for clogs and blockages.
- Locate the exhaust outlet on the outside of your home
- This may have flappers, a cage, or mesh to block animals or debris from entering.
- Verify the flappers can open all the way.
- These can get jammed by lint. If you run Air Dry Cycle, you should see them fully opened.
- Remove any visible lint around the exhaust.
If the error code occurs again after resetting the dryer, the unit may require a repair service.
