Many LG air conditioners are manufactured with a heat mode, so the unit can provide heat during the winter. If the heat does not seem to be working, there are a few things you can check to resolve the issue without a technician.
Note: For Instructions on how to use Heat mode please see our LG Air Conditioners - How To Use the Different Cooling Modes article.

Check for Error Codes
An error code can be an indicator the unit is experiencing an issue preventing operation.
If an error code is displayed, please see our LG Air Conditioner - Error Codes article.
Make Sure the Condenser Coils Are Not Frozen
If the unit is running, make sure the condenser coils are not frozen. If they are frozen, shut the unit off and allow the coils to defrost before powering it back on.
The unit requires 208/230 volts on a 20 amp circuit to operate correctly. Please ensure that your wall outlet provides the required power.
Run a Compressor Test
- Unplug the unit for 1 minute.
- Plug the unit back in and power it on.
- Set it to Cool and turn the temperature all the way up. Set the fan speed to High.
- Listen for the compressor to engage. It should take about 1 minute.
If the compressor does not come on after 1 minute or the unit continues not to heat, the unit will require a repair service. Please visit our Request a Repair page.
