LG Washer - Why Are My Clothes Wrinkling or Tangling?

At a Glance

Clothing items becoming wrinkled or tangled after the wash cycle can be caused by a large load size, cycle settings, or improper loading.

Try This

  1. Choose the appropriate cycle

Cotton/Normal is the most used cycle, however, this does not mean it is always the best choice. For example, bed linens should be washed using the Bedding cycle. Please visit our LG Washer Cycles and Options article for more information.

    Note

Cycle availability will vary depending on model year.

Use the cycle guide along with fabric care labels on the items themselves to choose the most appropriate cycle based on the items you intend to wash.

  2. Adjust the load size

Laundry in a frontload washer is cleaned using a falling motion. In the case of large loads, the falling distance may be too short and the laundry may not wash properly.

    Note

For optimal performance, laundry should not exceed 60% of the drum capacity.

  3. Prepare items before loading the washer

Remove any detachable parts of clothing such as metallic accessories, fasten, and hooks.
You can also turn the items inside out.
Clothes with long strings can easily become tangled. Secure loose strings or place the clothes in a net before you start washing to avoid tangling.

  4. Remove items shortly after the wash cycle is complete

If clothing items are left idle in the drum for a long time, wrinkles may form. To prevent this, promptly transfer the clothes to the dryer after the wash cycle is complete.
