If the craft ice is melting in your freezer, this can be caused by the door not being closed properly, the freezer temp being too high, or a dirty or damaged door gasket.
LG Refrigerators - Troubleshooting Craft Ice Melting
If the craft ice is melting in the freezer compartment, check the door gasket for gaps.
If you see gaps in the door gasket, the freezer door is not properly closed.
Cold air can leak through the gap in the gasket, causing the Craft Ice to melt.
Open the freezer compartment door. Check the items that may have gotten wedged at the back of the middle drawer preventing the top drawer from sliding completely closed.
Rearrange or relocate these items elsewhere in the freezer compartment. To prevent this issue, don’t overfill the drawers.
Close the freezer door and check the door gasket to make sure the door is closed properly.
Try This
-
Ensure the Freezer Door is Closing Properly
1Place a flashlight inside the freezer drawer and leave it on, close the door and look for light bleed.
2If there is light bleed, this can indicate the unit is not sealing properly.

Inspect the Door Gaskets for Buildup or Damage
1If buildup such as food is hardened on the rubber gasket, the door may not close properly due to poor adhesion.
2Wipe the rubber gasket with a warm soapy towel or sponge to remove substances.
NoteIf the door gasket is cracked or damaged, it will need to be replace. Please reach out to our 24/7 Chat Support to schedule a repair.
-
Ensure the Unit is Level
1An unleveled unit can cause the doors to not seal properly.
2Ensure the unit is installed on a flat service, and adjust the leveling feet at the bottom of the unit accordingly.
NoteFor assistance with leveling, please see our LG Refrigerator – How to Level a Fridge article for further assistance.
-
Lower the Freezer Temp
-4°F (-20°C) is the minimum recommended temperature setting of the freezer compartment for normal ice production. If the freezer temperature is set at a warmer temperature, this can lead to lower ice production and/or melting depending on how frequently the compartment is opened.
