Google Docs - Chromebase

The LG Chromebase Monitor includes Google Docs, used to Create, Open, and Save Microsoft Office files. This allows for easy collaboration with friends, classmates, and/or co-workers.

  3. You can also edit an Office file attached to email. In Gmail, open the email with the attached file, click on the attachment at the bottom to preview the file, then click Open to begin editing it.

  4. You can also use the Files App to locate the Office file, then double-click it to begin editing.

  • Supported File Types:
    • .doc, .docx
    • .xls, .xlsx
    • .ppt, .pptx

Note: Supported file types are constantly being added, and several formats can be converted to a Google Docs, Sheets, or Slides format. Refer to Convert a file to Google Docs, Sheets, or Slides for further assistance.

  • Office files saved in formats previous to Office 2007 will need to be upgraded to a newer version before editing (Office 95 or higher required for conversion).
  • Non-working files may be corrupt or password-protected.
  • File size limits can change over time. Make sure your files adhere to the current Google Docs file size requirements.
  • The Native Client plug-in must be enabled. Type about:plugins into the browser's address bar to ensure Native Client is enabled.
  • If using Google Docs from the browser, try to refresh the browser page.
  • Try to close the Files, Drive, and any editing apps (Docs, Sheets, etc.) that may be open, then try to open the file again.
  • If the issue persists, restart your Chromebase.
