When the color of leaves start to change and the weather becomes colder, it's time to winterize your LG window air conditioner to protect it from the harsh winter elements such as snow and ice and from rodents nesting in the unit.
Prior to winterizing you're A/C unit make sure the unit is powered off and unplugged from the power source.

Shut Off Power To the Unit.
This will prevent the unit from turning on if there is a warm day during the fall or winter.

Remove Debris.
Remove all debris such as leaves, twigs, bugs and dust from the unit. Wipe down the unit with a clean rag and tap water or mild detergent.

Clean the Evaporator Coils.
Clean the evaporator coils (inside the front grille) and condenser coils (outside of the unit) and allow your unit to dry completely.

Clean the Air Filter.
Check the air filter and wash with lukewarm water.

Cover the Air Conditioner.
Cover the air conditioner with a waterproof cover. Use vinyl tie-downs to secure the cover in place.

Check the Unit.
Throughout the winter season, periodically check your unit and remove any snow, ice and/or debris from the top of the unit.
