Factory Reset Protection (FRP) is device protection security feature introduced on Android smart phones running Lollipop (5.1) onward aimed at preventing someone from just wiping your data during an unsanctioned factory reset and getting away with it
To prevent the FRP affecting the phone:
-
Open Settings > General Tab > Account
-
Tap the G-mail account
-
Tap Remove Account
To then do a factory reset:
-
Exit to the settings menu and tap Restart & Reset
-
Tap Factory Data Reset
-
Tap Reset Phone
Note: In the case the phone has been reset, the only way to bypass the FRP is to enter the original accounts & password. If you do not know your G-mail password, on another device, proceed to www.gmail.com and attempt to reset your password.
