LG EasyLoad Dryer - How to Reverse the Door

[Narrator]
  • Please read through the instructions in the manual or watch this video in its entirety before attempting to reverse the door swing on your Easy Load dryer and be sure to pause the video when necessary.

  • Tools required: Screwdriver (Small & Large flat-blade, Phillips), Putty Knife, Protective Gloves.

  • Make sure you support the door or have an assistant help you when you remove the door from the dryer so it does not fall or injure you.

  • Remove the 2 lower hinge screws first using a Phillips screwdriver.

  • Remove the 2 top hinge screws using a large flat-blade screwdriver. Support the door as it will come loose!

  • Lift the door off the dryer and set it aside.

  • The components highlighted will be reversed.

  • Caution: Do NOT remove these 8 screws!

  • On the upper left side, remove the upper hinge cover and latch hole cover from the right side using the small screwdriver or putty knife.

  • Remove the latch mechanism on the left side and snap the latch hole cover in its place.

  • Use a Phillips screwdriver to install the latch mechanism in the hole on the right (where you removed the cover).

  • Rotate the hinge cover 180 degrees and install it on the upper right side.

  • Remove the hinge bracket on the lower left side using a large flat-blade screwdriver.

  • Now remove the hinge form the lower right side using a large flat-blade screwdriver.

  • Remove the bottom of the 2 screw from behind the hinge ONLY using a large flat-blade screwdriver.

  • Install the hinge bracket from the lower left side onto the lower right and securely tighten with the 3 screws using a large flat-blade screwdriver.

  • On the lower left side, install 1 of the hinge screws in the empty middle screw hole using a large flat-blade screwdriver.

  • Mount the hinge from the right side on the left using the 2 remaining screws and then tighten securely with a large flat-blade screwdriver.

  • Remove these 12 screws in order to remove the inner door cover.

  • The 2 bottom screws are different and must be installed in the correct position when reassembling the door.

  • Lay the door face down on a protected work surface and remove the 12 screws from the inner door cover using a Phillips screwdriver.


  • Use a small flat-blade screwdriver to lift up the inner door cover at the upper left hinge area.

  • Wear protective gloves when handling the inner door cover as the edges could be sharp.

  • Take the inner door cover first and gently pry out the rubber plug from the hole just below the door strike.

  • Mount and fully insert this plug in the hole on the opposite side.

  • Remove the screws from the blank cover on the left side of the inner door cover using a Phillips screwdriver.

  • Remove the 2 screws from the door strike on the right using a Phillips screwdriver.

  • Mount the blank cover on the right with the shorter screw on top and the longer screw on the side.

  • Next, mount the strike on the left side with the shorter screw on top and the longer screw on the side.

  • Set the inner door cover aside until it is time to reassemble the door.

  • Take a moment to become familiar with the components inside the door.

  • At the top, lift out the two gray interlock buttons and set them aside.

  • On the right side, lift out the side interlock button and spring. Set these aside.

  • Remove the side lock rod on the right side of the door by lifting up slightly on the top end of the rod, and then sliding it toward the top of the door so the bottom is released from the bottom hinge bracket.

  • The spring should stay attached to the rod, set the rod aside.

  • Remove the top lock rod by sliding it to the right as you lift the right end of the rod.

  • The spring should stay attached to the rod, set the rod aside.

  • Lift out the upper hinge pivot and set it aside.

  • Lift out the upper hinge assembly from the left side using a small flat-blade screwdriver.

  • Lift out the plastic hinge filler from the top right side.

  • Rotate it 180 degrees and insert it on the upper left side where the hinge assembly was removed.

  • Rotate the hinge assembly 180 degrees and remount it on the upper right side.

  • Press it down firmly to seat it in the door.

  • Pick up the top lock rod and rotate it 180 degrees.

  • The handle cam needs to be oriented on the left side and pointed upwards.

  • Insert the right tip of the top lock rod into the hinge assembly on the right while lowering the rod into position between the guides on the door and under the center handle.

  • When properly installed, the top lock rod can easily move left and right between the guides.

  • Remove the screw from the lower right hinge bracket using a Phillips screwdriver. Lift out the bracket and set it aside.


  • Remove the 2 screws from the lower left hinge and then lift out the hinge using a Phillips screwdriver.

  • Rotate the hinge 180 degrees and reinstall it on the right side.

  • Mount the hinge with the 2 screws as shown.

  • Pick up the hinge bracket removed from the right side.

  • Release the 2 retaining tabs shown here on the back side of the bracket.

  • With the tabs released, lift off the filler and rotate 180 degrees and remount it in the holes on the opposite side of the bracket.

  • The 2 holes in the plastic filler should now be facing to the right.

  • Mount the hinge bracket on the left using 1 screw.

  • Pick up the side lock rod and flip it over so the spring is toward the outside door.

  • Insert the bottom tip of the rod into the lower hinge bracket.

  • And then lower the rod so the spring can be mounted behind the spring stops in the door.

  • Make sure the top end of the rod is inside the guides and does not overlap the top lock rod.

  • Pick up the 2 gray interlock buttons removed at the beginning and install them in the original position above the top lock rod.

  • Next, install the side interlock button and spring on the left side X-shaped guide in the recess.

  • Press down the button to make sure it is operating smoothly.

  • Check to make sure that the interlock buttons at the top and side are properly aligned and that the gray bumper pads at the bottom are in place.

  • Before reassembling the door, clean any fingerprints and dust from the inside of the door and cover.

  • Carefully align the inner door cover with the interlock buttons and lower the cover into place.

  • Making sure the lock rods are not dislodged.

  • Press the door cover into position and reinstall the 12 screws.

  • The 2 special screws identified at the beginning must be installed in the 2 bottom holes.

  • Pick up the upper hinge pivot and rotate it 180 degrees.

  • Press in the side interlock button on the left side and hold it down while you press the hinge pivot into the hinge assembly on the top right side.

  • The door is now ready to remount on the opposite side of the dryer. With help or support under the door, flip up the lower hinge and align the tabs on the bottom door hinge with the hinge on the dryer.

  • Next, align the top hinge with the holes in the cabinet and install the 2 larger top hinge screws using a large flat-blade screwdriver.

  • Now install the 2 smaller bottom hinge screws using a Phillips screwdriver.

  • Make sure the door opens and closes properly in both the swing and hamper mode.

  • The door reversal is now complete!
