  • Troubleshooting

Causes and Symptoms

  • The temperature inside the drum is high.
  • The drum is filled with water or is spinning.

Wait! Find out more.

The door of the front load washer is locked while washing or spin-drying is taking place.
This is to prevent injury from hot water or vapor that is formed during washing.
If you need to open the door despite this, you can do so by pressing the [Add Item] button or the [Start/Pause] button.

Try this

Does the washer’s door feel hot?

➔ Wait 2 to 3 minutes for the drum to cool down before attempting to open the door.

If the temperature inside the drum is high, the door will remain locked for your safety to prevent injuries caused by hot water or steam.

Open the washing machine door and let it cool down

Is the drum filled with water or is it spinning?

➔ Use the spin-dry function to drain the water inside the drum and then open the door.

The door will not open if the washer is in operation.
First pause the washer, power it off and then turn it back on. Next, press the [Spin-dry] button to drain the water inside the drum.
Once water has been drained, you will be able to open the washer door.

Is the washer not draining after selecting [Spin-Dry]?

➔ Clean the drain filter.

The washer may not be draining due to foreign objects in the drain filter obstructing the drain pump.
In such cases, open the access cover, drain water by opening the residual water hose and clean the drain filter.

Draining water using the water removal hose and cleaning the drain filter.
For floors that may get wet:
1. Open the access cover on the front lower left of the washer.
Locate the large cap and residual water hose.
Some washer models have the access cover on the right side.
2. Turn the large cap to the left to open it. Next, remove residual water and any foreign objects.
There is no need to touch the residual water hose.
3. Clean the filter and reassemble the parts.
Ensure to close the cap firmly to prevent leakage.
For floors that may NOT get wet:
1.Open the access cover on the front lower left of the washer.
Locate the large cap and residual water hose.
Some washer models have the access cover on the right side.
2. Prepare a bowl or mop to prevent the floor from getting wet.
※ Large amounts of water may flow when cleaning the drain filter. Use extra caution if the floor is hard wood.
3.Hold the hose and pull its cap outward to remove it, draining water into the bowl you prepared.
※ Keep holding the hose while the cap is off.
4.Turn the large cap on the left to take out the filter.
5.Clean the filter under running water to remove any foreign objects, then reassemble the filter after cleaning.
6.Once water no longer flows from the hose, close the hose cap and put it back in place, ensuring it is properly secured.
Also, ensure the large cap is closed firmly to prevent leakage.

Forcing the washer door open

Then, push the door handle towards the washer and pull it outward to open the door.
If the door still does not open, do not force it.
