LG Frontload Washer - Wash Time Keeps Extending

  • Troubleshooting

The washer automatically determines the wash time by measuring the weight of what is assumed to be dry laundry.
If the laundry is bunched up on one side or if too much detergent was added, the wash time may increase.

Try this

Is there too much or little laundry?

➔ Wash the right amount of laundry at a time.

Adjust the amount of the load, keeping in mind that the washer performs best when you load the tub to about 2/3 of its capacity.
If there is too much laundry, divide the load. If too little, add more laundry.

The washer performs best when it is two-thirds full. Do not fully load the washer or load too little.

Did you put in wet laundry?

➔ Put in dry clothes for washing.

If your laundry is quite wet, remove excess water or spin dry wet laundry before washing.
It is advised to use high efficiency detergent for front load washer.
It is also important to use an appropriate amount of detergent according to load.
Washing wet laundry may cause the wash time to increase.
Washer operation time is calculated on the assumption that dry laundry was loaded.
If wet laundry is loaded, the washer mistakenly concludes that there is more laundry than there is actually.

Changes in the wash time depending on whether the laundry is wet

Standard cycle default settings: Rinse twice, high spin drying, water temperature of 40°C/104°F

Dry towels: 30 min wash time. Wet towels: Displayed wash time overestimated at 1 hr 52 min.

Did you use excess detergent?

➔ Stick to the recommended amount specified on the detergent label.

Using too much detergent can lead to excessive sudsing, increasing the wash time.
It is advised to use high efficiency detergent for the front load washer.
It is also important to use an appropriate amount based on the load size as indicated on the detergent label.

Detergent dosage based on the load size is indicated on the detergent label.
Wait! Find out more.
Uneven washer leveling causes vibrations, leading to laundry bunching up on one side of the drum.
The washer will detect the uneven distribution of laundry in the drum and take actions to redistribute the laundry.
Due to this action, the wash time is prolonged.

How to check if the unit is level

1. Hold the diagonal edges of the washer's top plate, pressing down to detect shaking.

2. Do the same for the opposite diagonal edges.

3. If shaking occurs on one side, adjust the legs on that side.
Continue checking balance until the unit no longer shakes when held at the diagonal edges.

If the washing machine wobbles when moved from side to side, adjust the legs to level the unit.
