LG Gram - How to Factory Reset Using the LG Recovery Center App

If your LG laptop was purchased with Windows 11 installed, then you can use this reset feature to easily revert to the factory setting.
If your laptop was purchased without an operating system (Windows11 not included) or if its recovery partitions were deleted or damaged, you cannot use this feature.

※ If you are resetting your laptop, connect a power adapter to make sure the power is always on.
※ If your PC was upgraded from Windows 10 to Windows 11, the OS will be reverted to Windows 10 when you factory reset using LG Recovery.

How to reset to the default condition (factory reset)

※ If you are resetting your laptop, connect a power adapter to make sure the power is always on.

1. As soon as the power is on, press the F11 key on the keyboard 3 to 4 times before the LG logo is displayed.

※ As shown in the below figure, if there is only a cursor on a black screen in LG Recovery mode,
then press the [F11] key once more to resize the black screen to the original size and then click the Minimize Screen button.

2. When the [LG Recovery Center] screen appears, select the language to use and click the [Next] button.

※ Depending on the PC condition, it may take 5 to 20 minutes to complete the factory reset.

How to set up Windows 11 initial user preferences

1. After the reset is finished, proceed with the initial set up for Windows 11.
When the following screen appears, select [English] and the click the [Yes] button.

2. After selecting [United States] as the [Country/Region], click [Yes].

3. In the [Keyboard Type or Input Method] settings menu, select [Microsoft Input Device] and then click the [Yes] button.

4. In the [2nd Keyboard Layout] setting, click the [Skip] button.

5. In [Network Connection], select an available network and click the [Connect] button.

※ In order to continue with the set up process, you must connect to the internet.

6. When you see the [License Agreement], click the [Accept] button.

※ If you installed Windows11 separately, the prompt to accept the agreement might not be displayed.

7. After selecting the purpose of PC use in device setting, click the [Next] button.

※ If you installed Windows11 separately, this step might not appear.

8. After entering your PC name, click the [Next] button.

※ The name is used for file sharing and wireless monitor connections and so on in Windows 11.
This might not be displayed on Windows 11 pre-installed laptops.

9. On the MS login screen, if you have an account, enter your ID/password and then click the [Next] button.

10. When the fingerprint login screen appears, click the [Skip for Now] button.

※ You can configure fingerprint settings later on. If you want to set up fingerprint login, then select [Enable].
If you installed Windows11 separately, this step might not appear.

11. Below [Create PIN], click the [Create PIN] button.

12. After entering the PIN to use, click the [OK] button.

13. After selecting the desired option below [Allow User Location Use], click the [Accept] button.

14. After selecting the desired option below [Find My Device], click the [Accept] button.

15. After selecting the desired option below [Send Diagnosis Data to MS], click the [Accept] button.

16. After selecting the desired option below [Manual Input and Typing Improvement], click the [Accept] button.

17. After selecting the desired option below [Use Custom Environment with Diagnosis Data], click the [Accept] button.

18. After selecting the desired option below [Allow Ads ID Use in App], click the [Accept] button.

19. After selecting the desired option below [User Defined Environment], click the [Apply] button.

※ If you don’t want to configure the settings, then deselect everything and click the [Skip for Now] button.

20. After selecting the desired option below [OneDrive File Backup], click the [Next] button.

21. For the [Microsoft 365 Evaluation Edition Free Trial Signup], click [No].

※ If you sign up for the free trial, you can get a 1-month free trial edition.

22. When the [Xbox Game Pass] signup screen appears, click the [Skip for Now] button.

※ If you installed Windows11 separately, this step might not appear.

23. Update confirmation message box will appear.

※ If you installed Windows11 separately, this step might not appear.

24. Once the initial set up is completed, the PC will reboot.

25. Factory reset is completed.
