Cooling mode is used to reduce wind sounds from the CPU fan by reducing the CPU speed. As a result, the system performance may slow.
※ To check the [Cooling Mode/Low Noise Mode] settings, use the LG Smart Assistant app if your laptop was launched after April 2022, and use the LG Control Center app if your laptop was launched before April 2022.
These programs are often automatically installed in conjunction with a program that you downloaded.
Disable programs that are unnecessary or not often used in the [Startup program] menu to improve PC performance.
Causes and Symptoms
- Cooling mode/low noise mode is turned on.
- In the Startup Program/App menu, there are unnecessary programs.
- There are two or more antivirus programs installed.

Checking the [Cooling Mode/Low Noise Mode] settings
➔ In LG Smart Assistant, if [Cooling Mode] is set to low noise or no noise, then switch it to [Normal Mode].
(Applicable to models launched after April 2022)
Enter [ LG Smart Assistant] in the task bar search field, and run it.
In [ LG Smart Assistant]→ Dashboard]→ [Cooling Mode], switch to [Normal Mode] .
※ You can press the [Fn] + [F1] hotkeys on the keyboard to run the LG Smart Assistant app as well.
➔ In LG Control Center, if [Cooling Mode] is set to low noise, then switch it to [Recommended]. (Applicable to models launched before April 2022)
Enter [ LG Control Center] in the task bar search field, and run the app.
In [ LG Control Center]→ [Cooling Mode], switch to [Optimal] .
※ You can press the [Fn] + [F1] hotkeys on the keyboard to run the LG Control Center app as well.
(Some models don’t have this hotkey function or have a different keys for it.)
For models released before 2020, go to [ LG Control Center] [System Settings], set [ Silent Mode] to [OFF].
Checking for unnecessary programs in [Startup Program/App]
➔ If there are startup programs that are unnecessary or not frequently used, switch them to [Disabled].
Simultaneously press [Ctrl + Alt + Delete] keys on the keyboard and then select [Task Manager].
In Windows 10 [Task Manager], select the [Startup] tab.
※ If all the details don’t show, click [More Details] at the bottom of Task Manager.
In Windows 11 [Task Manager], select the [Startup] tab. If there are unnecessary programs or programs that are not often used, set them to [Disabled].
※ To help you decide whether a program is necessary, look up for more information by right clicking the program and selecting [Search Online].
After switching the program to [Disabled], [Restart] Windows to see if it operates normally.
Changing the [Task Scheduler] settings
➔ By changing the [Task Scheduler] settings, you can improve the speed of your Windows.
Right click with the mouse on [Start] of the taskbar, then select [Computer Management].
Select [Computer Management] → [System Tools] → [Task Scheduler] → [Task Scheduler Library].
In [Task Scheduler Library], select startup programs that are unnecessary or not frequently used, and then [Disable] them.
Restart the PC and see if it operates normally.

In the taskbar search box, type [Virus] and select [Virus & Threat Protection].
Check the list of installed antivirus programs under [Virus & Threat Protection].

In [Control Panel] → [Programs and Features], select [Avast, Norton, McAfee, etc] and then click the [Uninstall] button.
Scan and remove viruses and malware
➔ If viruses or malware are installed, the system can become slow and be bombarded with pop-up ads. After removing virus and malware, the PC might fail to boot.
※ Make sure to back up important personal data such as documents, photos and so on in an external USB before proceeding.
➔ Malware detection and removal using Microsoft Defender (vaccine provided from Windows).
In the taskbar search field, search [ Virus & threat protection] and run [Quick scan] to scan and remove viruses.
