With the Backup application preloaded on your smartphone, you can backup and restore most of your smart phone data, including downloaded and pre-installed applications, bookmarks, calendar entries, call logs, contacts, home screen settings, messages, and system settings. You may also:
- Perform a manual backup of your smartphone data.
- Schedule automatic backups of your smartphone data.
- Restore your smartphone data.
Note: The first time you run Backup you will need to agree to the End User License Agreement and run through a brief tutorial.

From the Home screen, tap Apps > LG Backup > Manual Backup
Note: You can schedule a backup by selecting Auto backup and following the prompts.

Then choose between SD card or Internal storage to store your backup.
Note: Backup to SD Card is always recommended. If you select Internal storage, a pop-up will notify you that your backup (and all files) will be deleted from your phone after a factory data reset. Tap OK to continue. If you back up to Internal Storage, copy your backup file to a PC before performing a factory data reset.

Touch New backup, enter a name of your choice and tap Next.

Select the checkbox next to the item(s) you want to backup and tap Backup.
Note: If your backup file was saved to Internal storage, a factory reset will delete the backup file. Before a factory data reset, you will need to move/copy the backup files to a PC. If your backup file was saved to SD card, ensure you do not select the option to erase the SD card.

Connect your phone to a PC using a MicroUSB cable (you may use the cable attached to your LG charger).

Once connected, you may be prompted on your phone to select a USB connection type. Select Media sync (MTP).

On the PC, open My computer/Computer > LGMS500 > Internal storage > LGBackup.
Note: For SD card, open My computer/Computer > LGMS500 > SD card > LGBackup.

Right click on the backup file ending with .lbf. Then select Copy.

Select a location on the PC to save the file. Right click your mouse in that location and select Paste to save the backup file to your PC.

Connect your phone to a PC using a MicroUSB cable (you may use the cable attached to your LG charger).

Once connected, you may be prompted on your phone to select a USB connection type. Select Media sync (MTP).

On the PC, right click your mouse on the backup file ending with .lbf that you previously saved onto your PC. Then select Copy.

Open My computer/Computer > LGMS500 > Internal storage > LGBackup.
Note: For SD card, open My computer/Computer > LGMS500 > SD card > LGBackup.

Right click your mouse in that location and select Paste to save the backup file to your phone.

From the Home screen, tap Apps > LG Backup > Restore

Select the file from the Backup list that contains the data you wish to restore.

Select the item(s) you with to restore and tap Restore to restore it to your phone.

Read the prompt and tap Yes to continue with restoration. Your phone will automatically reboot when complete.
Caution: Once started, restoration cannot be canceled.
The selected backup item(s) is overwritten with the data from the backup file you choose. e.g. Contacts saved to the phone (not backed up via Google account) will be overwritten with the contacts saved in the backup file.
During restoration, phone will go into airplane mode. Some features and front keys of the phone will be limited.
Note: To restore data that is in your internal memory, Media sync mode must be turned off.
All files that are stored on your phone, for the selected restore item, are deleted before the backup file is restored.

From the Home screen, tap Apps > LG Backup > Auto backup

Then choose between SD card or Internal storage to store your backup and tap Next to continue.

Enter a new backup name of your choice and tap Next.

Select the checkbox next to the item you want to backup and tap Next.

Select the time you want the backup to run.

Select a frequency for the auto backup to repeat. Your choices are:
- Weekly
- Bi-weekly
- Monthly

Tap Done when you are finished.
