If your LG refrigerator door will not close or open properly, it may be due to the doors being mis-aligned or an item blocking the doors. Follow the troubleshooting steps below to resolve the issue.
Try This
-
Ensure the doors are aligned and closing tightly.
You may not be able to see that a door is open from the front, so open one door and check that the other is closed tightly.
If the doors or the unit aren't level, it can prevent the doors from closing properly or cause difficulty in opening and closing the doors.

NoteIf your unit has the metal flap, make sure the doors are aligned at the top so that the flap contacts the track when closing. If it doesn't the doors will need to be realigned.
If the problem is with a door-in-door, inspect it for foreign substances or damage.
-
Check that all bins and drawers are properly installed.
After cleaning the refrigerator, the refrigerator door will not close properly if the drawers or shelves are installed incorrectly.
NoteIf the freezer door will not close, this is sometimes because the drawer in the freezer is reversed. Look for the “Front” & “Back” imprint on the drawer and insert the drawer accordingly.
-
Inspect the door gaskets for buildup or damage.
If buildup such as food is hardened on the rubber gasket, the door may not close properly due to poor adhesion.
Wipe the rubber gasket with a warm soapy towel or sponge to remove substances.
NoteIf the door gasket is cracked or damaged, it will need to be replace. Please visit our Request a Repair page for further assistance.
