LG Refrigerator - Why are the Front and Sides of my Refrigerator Hot?

  • Troubleshooting

At a Glance

There is a heating wire (defrost heater) installed around the front perimeter of the refrigerator and the partition between the freezer and the refrigerator compartment to prevent condensation from forming.

It is embedded in the area marked in red in the picture below, which is in contact with the door gasket.
Particularly after the initial installation of the refrigerator or during the summer, the cooling motor (compressor) may take longer to operate which makes the fridge feel hotter but rest assured as it is not a product defect.
