The ThinQ app can be used to update software and control features on your LG Soundbar. Software updates are released periodically for network or Bluetooth enabled sound bars. These updates are used to fix bugs and, in some cases, enhance features of the device.
Soundbars purchased before 2024 will use the LG Soundbar App available in the iOS App Store or the Google Play Store.

Follow the steps below to connect your soundbar to ThinQ or the LG Soundbar App and get software updates.
Some 2024 LG Soundbar users will receive a message instructing them to update their software before being able to connect to ThinQ.
To proceed, please:
- Install LG Soundbar App and update software by following the steps below in “How Do I Connect to the LG Soundbar App and Update My Software?”
- Removing LG Soundbar App from device.
- Install and connect to the ThinQ App.

How to use ThinQ App with Soundbar Settings
Please select the setting you wish to learn about.
Select the correct input in the app to receive audio from the desired source:
1Bluetooth – For streaming music from a phone or other Bluetooth-enabled compatible device.
2USB – For playing music from a USB drive (available on some models).
3HDMI ARC – For audio from a TV, cable box, or satellite box. Ensure the TV and soundbar are connected to matching HDMI ARC ports.
1Sound Effect – Bass Blast, AI Sound Pro, Bass Blast +, Cinema, Game, Music, Sports, and Standard (Options are model specific).
2Volume – Adjust Soundbar volume.
3Mute – Mute volume.
4TV Remote – Can select to link TV and Soundbar so TV Remote can be pulled up from Soundbar Device Card.
1Dynamic Range Control(DRC) – adjusts the volume of loud and quiet sounds. Help prevent distortion and make audio easier to hear.
2Auto Volume On/Off – Prevents sudden increase in volume.
3AV Sync – adjusts the synchronization between the sound and video.
1Treble – Increase this to enhance clarity and reduce the dominance of bass (high-pitched frequencies).
2Mid – Adjust these to your preference, but generally, keep them balanced (mid-range frequencies).
3Bass – Lower these settings to reduce bass (low-frequency sounds).
1Sound Diagnosis – a feature that allows you to use the app to analyze the sound quality of your soundbar.
2Auto Power On/Off – Connected TVs remote will power on and off soundbar.
3Voice Guide – a feature that helps visually impaired users navigate the menus by reading selections aloud.
4LED/Display – Controls display brightness.
1Select the TV that the soundbar is connected to so the TV remote can control the soundbar.

How to add an LG Soundbar to the ThinQ App
1Tap the “+” icon in the top right of the Home Screen.
2Select "Add devices.“
3Scroll down and select "Soundbar.“

1When the soundbar is powered on, tap "Turned On.“
2The app will search for the device. Once the soundbar appears, select it. Some soundbars may require you to press the Wi-Fi button, Bluetooth button or a combination of buttons to active.
3The app will connect to the soundbar.
4Rename the device and tap "OK“ or just tap “OK.”

How to add soundbar to the LG Soundbar App
1Download and install the LG Soundbar App software from the iOS App Store or the Google Play Store.
2Open the app and tap the “+” icon to add a new soundbar.
3Follow the on-screen prompts to select your soundbar’s connection method: Wi-Fi, Google Assistant, Bluetooth, or Function (“F”) key.
4Select your soundbar model from the list and complete the connection.

1Tap the Gear icon in the upper-right corner to open Settings.
2Select “Device Information and Reset.”
3Tap “Software Version Information.”
4The app will automatically check for updates. If an update is available, tap “Update.”
