LG Styler - Troubleshooting Noises and Vibrations

  • Troubleshooting

Does the Styler vibrate or make rattling, tapping, beeping, or humming noises during operation?

Causes and Symptoms

  • Clothes hangers are not properly inserted into the slots of the moving hanger.
  • Empty clothes hangers are causing noise.
  • The Styler is not level.
  • Buttons or zippers on the clothes collide with each other.
  • The compressor in the Styler is generating noise.

The moving hanger in the Styler swings back and forth up to 200 times a minute to have steam evenly permeate your clothes.
Therefore, vibration and noise may occur to some degree.
In addition, sounds could be heard from the compressor (motor) as it operates to increase the temperature inside the Styler for drying.
When the indoor temperature is low, the compressor operates faster than usual to raise the temperature inside the Styler quickly.
The increased spinning speed results in louder operating sounds.
This is similar to your car engine: you speed up, the engine becomes louder; you slow down, the sound becomes softer.
When the temperature inside the Styler reaches around 40℃, the compressor will slow down and the sound will become softer.

Try this

Are the hangers properly inserted into the slots?

➔ Fit your clothes hanger securely into the slots of the moving hanger.
Take out empty clothes hangers not in use.

If you hear rattling, tapping or bumping sounds while running the Styler, press [Pause], open the door,
and check if the clothes hangers are firmly fixed into the hanger slots.
Remember to also pull the hanger down to ensure it is fixed in place.
In addition, please remove empty clothes hangers as they collide and generate noise.

If you are to use regular clothes hangers other than the dedicated ones for the Styler, choose hangers which have hooks less than 4mm thick.
Using clothes hangers that do not fit into the hanger slots may result in collisions and noise.

Is your Styler level?

➔ If the Styler vibrates during operation, make sure to level the unit.

If the Styler is not leveled, vibration as well as noise may occur.
First, push the Styler diagonally and check if it rocks.
If the Styler is unbalanced, adjust the tilting side of it.

To reduce noise and to maximize the effects of the Steam function, ensure that the Styler is installed on a hard, even surface.

Did you run the Styler without fastening the zippers and buttons on your clothes?

➔ Fasten all zippers and buttons on your clothes and hang the clothes so buttons and zippers face toward the inside of the Styler.

The zippers and buttons may hit the inner wall of the Styler and generate noise.
Ensure that zippers and buttons are properly fastened and hang your garments in such a way that zippers and buttons face inward, away from the walls.
Additionally, ensure that hangers face the same direction to minimize collision.

Do you hear high frequency beeps or whirring sounds while running your Styler?

➔ Those are common sounds generated by the compressor as it operates to dry your clothes.

The compressor inside the Styler serves the function of circulating air.
During its operation, it generates a whirring sound.
When the indoor temperature is low, the compressor operates faster than usual to raise the temperature inside the Styler quickly.
As it spins faster, a continued, high frequency beep may be heard.
