Performing regular maintenance on your washing machine prevents mold and mildew around the rubber door gasket. Cleaning the dirt accumulated after multiple washing cycles keeps the washer smelling fresh. Running the TUB CLEAN cycle once per month will remove mildew, eliminate moisture, and prevent mold. The cycle options list below provides information for each wash cycle available on LG Top Load Washers.

The cycles options available on your LG washer will vary depending on the model and model year.

Disables the control panel during operation so the settings cannot be adjusted during the cycle. This will not prevent the unit from being powered on or off. When powered off, the child lock will not lock the door or control panel

On some models "CL" will flash on the display to indicate this is active. The display will alternately flash "CL" and the remaining cycle time. On most models this feature is activated by starting the cycle and then pressing and holding the button for 3 seconds.

This function will delay the start of the wash cycle. The delay wash time varies by model - some models can be set for up to 12 hour delay wash, while other models can be set up to 19 hour delay wash.

Each press of the delay wash button increases the delay time by one hour.

Allows an adjustment to a cycle to be saved and recalled for future use.

After making the adjustments, press and hold the Customer Program button for three seconds and the adjustments will be saved. The next time the adjusted cycle is desired, simply press the Custom Program button to recall it. The settings stored will display.

Allows the beeper volume to be adjusted or turned on/off. On some models, it will only turn the beeper on or off and does not adjust the volume.

    Note

This feature is not available on all models.

This will run a Tub Clean Cycle. Approximate time is 1 hour. Time will adjust as necessary to clean the drum

This is not added to a cycle, but used by itself. Tub Clean will dispense bleach and run a full hot wash cycle. No clothing or detergent should be added. Use bleach in the bleach compartment, not directly in the drum. May use a front load cleaner in place of bleach, but do not use both at the same time.

This will perform a rinse and spin separately from a regular cycle. Time is approximately 21 minutes.

To activate, simply power on the unit, press the rinse and spin button, then press start. This will not add an extra rinse to a cycle.

Adds an additional rinse to the cycle to help ensure the removal of detergent and bleach residue from garments

There is no specific time for the option as it depends on the load size and cycle selected.

Will extend the wash time of the cycle for enhanced wash performance. Also adds a 2nd Rinse.

This will not remove stains that have set in or have not been pretreated. The Stain Care Option only extends the time during the wash portion of the cycle and adds an extra rinse. There is no specific time as it depends on load size and cycle selected.

Uses a minimal amount of warm water to ensure detergent activation at the lowest possible temperature and uses 6 motion wash with a direct drive motor so that cleaning performance is maximized and energy use is minimized. This provides the same performance as washing in warm water.

This option, when added to a cycle, utilizes 6 wash motions during the cycle to enhance cleaning performance while using very little warm water.

Changes the final rinse type from spray rinse to deep rinse. Recommended for Cotton/Normal or Heavy Duty Cycles.

This does not add an extra rinse.

    Cotton/Normal and Heavy Duty course:

    • If the water pressure is normal then the water is dispensed via the jet spray during the rinse process. (no softener will be dispensed)
    • If water pressure is high: water is dispensed via detergent box only. (softener will be dispensed)
    • If water pressure is very low: water is dispensed via detergent box and jet spray. (softener will be dispensed)

On a normal cycle you should press the Fabric Softener button if you wish to add softener.

The purpose of the jet spray is to save water while using a normal rinse performance. If you want a high rinse performance press 'Fabric Softener' or 'Extra Rinse' button.

If you press the fabric softener button, water passes through the detergent box which uses more water than the jet spray. (30 liters more) Water also passes through the detergent box when using the 'extra rinse' function and an extra rinse cycle is added up to 4 times (by pressing extra rinse button 2 times)

Allows the consumer to remove stains more thoroughly by specifying additional time for the clothing to soak during the wash cycle.

    1. Press POWER to turn on the unit.
    2. Turn the knob to the desired washer cycle.
    3. Press the SPECIAL CARE button until SOAK is selected.
    4. Press the START/PAUSE button.
    Note

The SOAK option is not available for every cycle.

The cycle time is increased by 30 minutes. At the end of Soak, the wash cycle will be started without draining. It is normal that the washer weakly agitates during this cycle. This is different from the Stain Care option which extends the wash time.

Will perform a spin only to spin out excess water. Time is approximately 12 minutes.

This will not perform a rinse.

    Adds water to the cycle

The amount of water varies according to the cycle selected.

    • WT5*01 - This option can be added twice on Normal and Heavy Duty cycles.
    • WT1*01 - This option can be added twice on the Normal cycle.
  5. Refer to LG Front Load Washer Maintenance for more information.
