LG TV - Troubleshooting Duplicate Images/Ghosting

You may experience symptoms such as image duplication and afterimages in a specific channel, sometimes caused by weak broadcast signals and not indicative of a product defect.

Try this

Are you seeing duplicate images on every channel?

➔ Go to [Settings] and start [Picture Test] to check if the picture works normally.

[2020 WebOS 5.0] Press the setting button on the TV remote and select [All Settings] → [Support] → [Additional Settings] → [Picture Test].
Turn on the TV and press the [Settings] button on your TV remote.
Select [All Settings] in the [Settings] menu.

① Select [Support] and then ② [Additional Settings].

[Prior to 2019] WebOS

[2019 WebOS or before] Press the setting button on the TV remote and select [All Settings] → [Picture] → [Picture Test].
Turn on the TV and press the [Settings] button on your TV remote.
Select [All Settings] in the [Settings] menu.
After pressing the remote control settings, select the All Settings menu
① Select [Picture] and then ② [Picture Test].

Perform [Picture Test] to check the screen condition.

If the problem persists in the picture test, please contact LG Electronics Service Center.
If the test picture is displayed normally, it is likely that the broadcast signal has a problem.
If the problem does not occur in the picture test, please contact the set-top service provider. (e.g., cable TV, Skylife, IPTV)

WebOS How to check signal strength

Press the setting button on the TV remote and select [All Settings] → [Channels] → [Channel Search] → [Manual Channel] → [Cable DTV].

Turn on the TV and press the [Settings] button on your TV remote.
Select [All Settings] in the [Settings] menu.

After pressing the remote control settings, select the All Settings menu

Select [Channels],
① [Channel Tuning], ② [Manual Tuning], and ③ [Cable DTV] in the specified order. (Select when using a cable TV)

Select [Channels], ① [Channel tuning], ② [Manual Channel], and ③ [Cable DTV] in the specified order.

You can see the signal strength and quality of the channel you are watching.

If the signal strength changes by more than 50% or the signal quality changes by more than 30%, it indicates a weak broadcast signal.
In such a case, please contact your property management office or broadcast service provider.
If the problem persists in the picture test, please contact LG Electronics Service Center.
