LG TV - Troubleshooting Vertical Lines or Stains on an OLED TV Screen

At a Glance

OLED TVs use pixel technology that emit light on their own, resulting in brighter and clearer picture quality compared to regular products. In the event images, such as channel logos, remain on the screen or if lines appear, the Pixel Refresher function is can correct these issues.

Note

Pixel Refresher or Clear Panel Noise is available on OLED models 2016 and newer.

Try This

➔ If you see those lines or spots on the TV screen across channels, in the settings menu, run [Pixel Cleaning] (also known as [Pixel Refresher] in older models).

  1. Select Your WebOS Version

    WebOS 24 WebOS 23 WebOS 22 WebOS 21 WebOS 6.0 WebOS 5.0 or older How to find out?
  2. Identify the WebOS Version

    1 Press the nosound [Mute] button on the TV remote 3 times repeatedly.

    2 Platform will help you identify the WebsOS version

    3 Select your WebOS Version

  3. Running the Pixel Cleaning


    Press the Setting botton button on the TV remote and select [All Settings][General][OLED Care][OLED Panel Care][Pixel Cleaning].


    1 Turn on the TV and press the [Settings] button on your TV remote.
    Select [All Settings] in the [Settings] menu.

    2 Select [OLED Care] .

    3 Select [OLED Panel Care].

    4 Select [Pixel Cleaning].

    5 To start the Pixel Refresher feature there are two options: [Operate once when TV is off] or [Start Now].
    The Pixel Refresher process may take up to 3 hrs. to complete.

    • [Operate once when TV is off] - TV will turn back on automatically once completed.
    • [Start Now] - TV will turn off automatically and start the Pixel Refresher. Will have to manually be turned back on after 3 hrs.

    Note

    If the TV is turned on while the Pixel Cleaning is running, it will be canceled and the will need to be restarted.

    6 If the problem persists after performing the Pixel Cleaning, service will be required. Please visit our Request a Repair page for further assistance.

  4. 2020 WebOS 5.0 or older


    Press the Setting botton button on the TV remote and select [All Settings][Picture][Additional Settings][OLED Panel Settings][Pixel Refresher].

    1 Turn on the TV and press the [Settings] button on your TV remote.
    Select [All Settings] in the [Settings] menu.

    2 Select [Picture] and then [Additional Settings].

    3 Select [OLED Panel Settings].

    4 Select [Pixel Refresher].

  5. 1Turn on the TV and press the Setting botton button on your LG TV remote.

    2Select [Gear Icon] to open the Settings menu.

    3Select [General].

    4Select [OLED Care] then select [OLED Panel Care].

    5Select [Pixel Cleaning].

    6Select when you want it to run.

    Note

    This process will take about one hour to complete.
