LG TV - Wavy OLED Screen

  • Installation

At a Glance

If your OLED TV screen appears to have waves or is warped when powered off, this is not a defect but by design.

Example of Wavy Screen Second Example of Wavy Screen

Cause

Unlike LCD TVs, OLED TVs do not contain a backlight, allowing it to be very thin. The waves reflect the shape of the materials inside the panel.

This causes objects that are reflected from the TV panel to look wavy or dented when the TV is off. This does not affect any picture quality or reliability. The effect disappears when the TV is powered on.

Learn More
  • LCD TVs require a back-lighting source, making them thicker.
  • OLED TVs have a self-emission display and do not need a back-light. Therefore, OLED TV panels are lighter and thinner.
