LG Washer - Clothing Not Clean Properly

If your washer is cleaning poorly, this can be caused by the load being too large, improper cycle settings, or an indicator it is time to perform the monthly cleaning maintenance.

Try This

  1. Do you see any error codes on the display?

    Yes No
  2. If an error code is displaying on your washer, please visit our LG Washer – Error Codes List article for further assistance.

  3. Do you see any marks or streaks on your clothing?

    Yes No
  4. This may indicate it is time to perform a TUB CLEAN and the regular maintenance to help resolve this issue.

  5. Are you experiencing odors in the fabrics?

    Yes No
  6. Items such as socks, towels, or fluffy type items are very absorbent. If the washer hasn't been regularly cleaned and maintained, or if too much detergent has led to a buildup of residue, the odor may be absorbed into the fabric of these types of items. If this appears to be the case, perform a TUB CLEAN cycle and the regular maintenance on the washer to clean the drum of the machine thoroughly.

    1. Adjust the Load Size

      If the washer is too full, the items will not wash properly affecting cleaning performance.
      All items should be submerged in the water.

    2. Try a Different Wash Cycle

      Depending on the type of fabric, soil level, and wash recommendations using the [ Heavy Duty ] or [ Deep Wash ] cycle may be better the [ Normal ] cycle.

    3. Clean the detergent dispenser

      If there is detergent left or hardened and the dispenser is clogged, detergent may not enter the machine.
      Remove and clean the detergent dispenser.

    4. Perform a Tub Clean Cycle

      Detergent residue can build up over time decreasing the wash performance.
      Running the Tub Clean cycle on a monthly basis to maximize wash performance.

      1Press the [Power] button.

      2Press [Cycle] button and select [Tub Clean] cycle.

      3Add correct amount of washing machine cleaner by following the manufacturer's dosage instructions.

      4Press [Start/Pause] button. Remaining time will be shown on the control panel.
