Show Script[Washing Machine] Front Load Washing Machine Common Error MessagesAny error codes popping up on the control panel display? You may be able to solve a lot of them by yourself. Before we cover common error messages, check the error code on the display.
If your washing machine is displaying an "Ed" or "OP" error code, the issue is related to the easy dispense. Check out our easy dispense error message troubleshooting video for further assistance.
If your unit is displaying an "IE" error code, it means the water supply is inadequate. First, make sure the water supply tap is fully open. Next, check whether the water supply hose is kinked. If this is the case, straighten or reinstall the inlet hose. If the supply hose filter is clogged, it can decrease the water flow. Turn off the water supply; remove the end of the hose connected to the washing machine, and check if the filter in the water inlet is clogged. If the water inlet filter is clogged, go ahead and clean it. Reinstall it and connect hose back to the washer. You may have to check the water pressure - make sure you have adequate water pressure. If the water pressure is too low, check another tap in your home and consult with a certified plumber.
If the unit is displaying a "UE" error code, it means your laundry is unbalanced. First, check whether the load is too small. If so, the drum may stop spinning or may be interrupted. Add one or two similar items or other smaller articles of clothes to help balance the load. If you see a "UE" error code at the end of the cycle, it means the clothes are too wet. Rearrange the load to allow for proper spinning, then close the door and press the start/pause button. It may take a few moments before the washing machine begins to spin again.
If your unit is displaying an "OE" error code, it means the water cannot drain. Check whether the drain hose is kinked or clogged. If this is the case, clean and straighten the drain hose. It can also be that the drain filter is clogged. If this is the case, clean the drain filter. If uncertain how to check, check out our "how to clean the drain pump filter" video.
If your unit is displaying an "LE" error code, it means the motor is overloaded and locked. Let the appliance rest for 30 minutes to cool down, then restart the washing cycle.
If your unit is displaying a "FF" error code, it means your unit is frozen. Check the water inlet and drain hoses. Also, check the drain filter to see whether the drain pump is frozen. Supply warm water into the drum in order to unfreeze the drain hose and the drain pump. Cover the supply hose with a warm, wet towel to defrost the water supply hose.
If your unit is displaying a "PF" error code, it means you've experienced a power failure. This may occur if the power supply to the washing machine is interrupted during a cycle from a power outage. To fix this, simply restart the washing cycle.
If your unit is displaying the same error message as above, close the water tap and unplug the power cord. Please call your LG service center for support. Thank you for using LG washing machines!

Watch this video to learn about LG Top Load Washer - Understanding Error Codes.
Show Script[LG Top Load Washers] Understanding Error Codes In LG Top Load Washing MachineLG makes it easy to diagnose problems that you may have with your top load washer should you run into any issues, saving you time from calls and services. If an issue occurs, your washer is programmed to display error messages that may help assist you in getting your machine up and ready again. In this video, we will go over some solutions for the OE, IE, dE, and UE error messages.
An OE error message may occur if the washing machine is draining water slowly or not draining at all. Check to see that the drain hose is properly installed. Make sure that the drain hose is not pinched, clogged, or frozen.
An IE error message is an indicator that water is not being supplied to your washer or that the water pressure is too low. Make sure that your water lines are properly connected and turned on. Check to see that the water lines are not pinched or bent and that there are no leaks. Next, check to see that your water inlet filters are not clogged. The water pressure must be between 14.5 and 116 psi.
If you receive a dE error message, this may mean that the washer lid is not closed properly. Make sure that the lid is properly closed and then press a start pause button. The washer will not spin unless the lid is completely locked.
A small uE error message is an indicator that your washer has detected an unbalanced load. This code will display while your washer is attempting to rebalance the load by adding more water and redistributing the clothes within the tub. Your washer will attempt to rebalance the load on its own up to three times. This is an automatic attempt and no action is required at this time. If you receive a UE error message and your washing cycle has been paused, this means that your washer was unable to balance a load on its own and manual redistribution is needed. Rearrange the items in the tub to help balance the load.

Watch this video to learn about LG Pedestal Washer - Understanding Error Codes.
Show Script[LG Top Load Washers] Understanding Error Codes - SideKick™ Washer -We'll explore some common solutions to many of the error codes that could be displayed on your sidekick pedestal washer. Be sure to follow these solutions before you call for service.
The Sidekick drawer needs to be closed in order for the wash cycle to begin. So if a dE1 error code appears in your display after several seconds from starting your wash cycle, simply close the drawer. The washer will then lock and begin its cycle.
If you notice an abnormal noise shortly after starting your wash cycle and closing the doors such as this and then the dE2 error code appears, means the drawer is closed but did not lock properly. Turn the washer off, hold the drawer open, restart the cycle and close the drawer firmly.
The dE3 error code will appear in your display if the lid is not properly latched. Turn the washer off, open the drawer and make sure the latch area is free of clothing and other obstructions. Close the lid. Shut the drawer and restart the cycle.
An IE error code indicates that there is a problem with your water supply. Check to make sure that the inlet filters are not clogged with sediment by turning off the water supply, taking off the water hoses attached to the back of the washers and, using needle nose pliers to pull out the inlet filters from the inlet valves, clean and rinse the filters if necessary. When finished, follow the same steps in reverse and make sure that the water faucets are fully open and that the hoses are not kinked or pinched. You may also see an IE error code. If the Sidekick pedestal washer takes too long to fill with water, due to very low water pressure, problems with the drain hose could result in an OE error code. Make sure the drain hose is not clogged, kinked or pinched. Also, make sure the height of the drain is no more than 53 inches above the floor, as the washer cannot push the water any higher than that.
If the washer is full of water, it can be drained by selecting the rinse and spin cycle, followed by selecting the extra rinse option until you see the spin only indicator light on the display. If the tub is still filled with water, another option is to empty the water into a shallow pan by pulling the drain tube on the inner left side of the drawer. Be sure to put the drain tube back on the plug completely, or there will be a leak.
The washer will check each load for balance before it goes into the spin cycle. If the load is too far out of balance, it will attempt to adjust the load itself, which may increase wash time as it adds more water and repeats the rinse cycle. If these attempts fail, the UE error code will appear on a display and will pause the cycle until you open the drawer and try to redistribute the clothes more evenly before continuing with the cycle. This could also be caused by a mixed load with heavy and light items, or the load is simply too small, which you will then need to add additional items to help solve the problem.
Your Sidekick pedestal washer keeps track of the number of loads that you have washed, and it will let you know when it is time to run the tub clean cycle. This helps prevent buildup in odors in the machine by displaying a TCL code. Dilute 1/4 cup of bleach in a quart of water. Pour into the empty tub. Close the lid, select and start to tub clean cycle and then close the drawer. You can also use any of the commercial tub cleaning agents on the market. But remember, this is a very small tub, so use less if you can.
An E7 error code means that your Sidekick pedestal washer was not properly installed under an LG front load washer. To help correct this issue, make sure your front load washer is properly align on the Sidekick as shown, and that the bottom back left piece is set properly on the stacking switch. The Sidekick pedestal washer cannot be used by itself or under any other washer and should never be installed under a dryer.

Cd Error Code
Cd is not an error code, but an indicator that the drying cycle is completed, it actually means "cool down" when displayed on the multi display.
-
Cool down is set automatically when the drying cycle is completed.
-
When clothes are not removed promptly when the drying cycle ends, wrinkles can form. The cool down feature periodically tumbles, re-arranges and fluffs the load to avoid wrinkles formation up to 4 hours.
-
The message will continue to display until the clothes are removed, or the START/PAUSE button is pressed.
Child Lock Error Code
Hello and welcome to LG's step-by-step guide on how to set the control lock on your LG washing machine. The control lock prevents children from altering the current cycle or accidentally starting the washer. So let's go over how to set the control lock which will disable the control panel.
How to lock the control panel. To lock the control panel, first turn the power on. Next, press and hold the two buttons above the control lock marker at the same time for three seconds. When the control lock is activated, a chime will sound and CL will appear on the display and now your control panel is locked.

Hello and welcome to LG’s step-by-step guide on how to clean the tub of your LG washing machine. The tub clean function helps clean the grime inside the washer tub by soaking, washing, rinsing, and spinning the drum. Keeping the washing machine tub clean can help to alleviate possibility of detergent and softener residue buildup and odors.
Here is how to clean the tub: First remove any clothing or items from inside washing machine drum and close the door. Next, open the dispenser drawer and add anti-lime scale powder, vinegar, or squeezed lemon juice to the manual wash compartment. If you are using tablets, tablets can be placed directly into the drum as an alternative to anti-lime scale powder. Close the dispenser drawer and turn the power on. Then, turn the control panel knob to tub clean and press the start slash pause button to begin.
After the tub clean cycle has ended, use a soft cloth to wipe the door seal and door to remove any moisture. Then, leave the door slightly open to let the inside dry out. If the inside is not completely dry, it may cause a bad odor or mildew to form.
And that is how to clean the tub of your washing machine. Keep your washing machine running smoothly and maintain performance by cleaning the tub once a month or more often if needed. Proper care of your appliance can extend its longevity.
Thank you for using LG washing machines.
UE or Ub Error Code
Certain load types may not distribute the weight of the load evenly, resulting in an unbalanced load and the uE/UE code.
-
SMALL LOADS
- The weight of the load must be evenly distributed across the surface of the drum.
- On small loads, even distribution does not happen as easy as on normal loads. Clothing will clump together throwing the weight of the drum off during the spin cycle.
- Re-arrange the items in the drum, and restart the cycle.
-
SINGLE, BULKY ITEMS
- Mixed fabric loads (such as jeans and t-shirts) can cause unbalanced rotation of the drum.
- For example: when washing jeans and t-shirts, jeans could be on one side of the drum and t-shirts on the other.
- Rearrange the items in the drum, and restart the cycle.
-
LARGE ITEMS
- Large single items such as sheets, blankets, or comforters can cause the UE or Ub error due to uneven spread across the surface of the drum.
- Rearrange the items in the drum, and restart the cycle.
CE Error Code
The CE error code will display if the drum doesn't reach 20 RPM (rotations per minute) within 3 minutes or 6 attempts.
