Oven Not Heating - Gas Ranges

1. Check for error codes.

   Do you see any error code on the display screen? (Usually "F" followed by a number.)

   Error codes are signs that the unit needs your attention, each error code has specific troubleshooting instructions. Please visit our Error Codes - Cooktop and Range page to resolve the error.

2. Use correct settings for the intended cycle?

   Check the oven temperature settings and adjust it if necessary.

   • Oven control settings must be confirmed by pressing the START button after the temperature is changed.

   • Any temperature change made will be canceled if it is not confirmed by pressing the START button within 25 seconds.

3. Dedicated circuit breaker

   The unit must be on a dedicated circuit, and also switched ON.

   • GAS RANGES requires a single-phase, 3 wire, A.C. 120V 60Hz electrical system on a 15-20 amp dedicated circuit

   • If the unit is not on a dedicated circuit, an electrician will need to be contacted to rewire the outlet.

   • Check the circuit breaker to be sure that it has not tripped OFF. If so, flip the breaker back to the ON position.

4. Do not use an extension cord.

   • The unit must be connected to the power outlet directly WITHOUT an extension cord.

   • GAS units require UL listed 15-20 Amp power supply cord.

   • Connect the unit without an extension cord and try the power button again.

5. Is the oven door open?

   The oven is not designed for open-door cooking.

   • It is not recommended that the door be opened when the unit is cooking.

   • If the door is opened when the unit is operating, the bake burner will not turn off. However, the cooking cycle will be delayed or start over due to the loss of heat.

   

6. Is the gas valve open?

   The gas valve must be open for the oven to heat.

   • If the unit was recently pulled out or moved for cleaning, it is possible that the gas to the unit was shut off.

   • The gas may be shut off by the technician at the actual gas shut-off valve or on the pressure regulator.

   • The gas shut off valve is the connection on the home side, whereas the pressure regulator is the connection on the unit side.

   • If the home's gas valve is ON, then check the pressure regulator on the unit. The location depends on the model. Please refer to your owner's manual for more information.

7. Is the ignitor working properly?

   If the ignitor is not working, the oven will not heat.

   • The gas range is designed for using the hot surface ignitor to ignite the bake burner.

   • The ignitor gets red and lights for about 30 to 60 seconds. The light of the hot surface ignitor is reflected in the oven cavity.

   • If the igniter doesn't work, an error code will display. This error code varies by model, if you see an error code please refer to our Error Codes - Cooktops & Ranges page to resolve the error code
