Oven Over Cooking - Gas Ranges

  • Troubleshooting
Oven Over Cooking - Gas Ranges

Oven temperature issues may be resolved without a technician. If you see any error on the display screen, please visit our Error Codes - Cooktop and Range page to resolve the error.

Before we proceed, watch this video about LG Range - Heating Issues

Follow the steps below to resolve the oven issue:

  1. Use correct settings.

    Check the oven temperature settings.

    • Oven control settings must be confirmed by pressing the START button after the temperature is changed.

    • Any temperature change made will be canceled if it is not confirmed by pressing the START button within 25 seconds.

  2. Convection fan running.

If you can hear the convention fan running, even on normal bake, this is normal. The oven is designed to operate this way for increased cooking performance.

  3. Rack position.

Cooking results can be affected if the rack is in the wrong position.

The heat distribution at each rack position is different and varies by model. We recommend you check your owner's manual for accurate guidelines on rack placement. Please visit our Manuals and Documents page to download a copy.

  4. Hotter or cooks faster than your prior unit.

This can be the result of the oven's thermostat setting.

The oven's thermostat setting comes preset from the factory. However, this setting can be adjusted.

To adjust the oven's thermostat, please refer to your owner's manual. Visit our Manuals and Documents page to download a copy.

  5. Heating too much during the pre-heating cycle

During the pre-heating cycle, it is normal for the gas oven to have a higher temperature than what is set during the pre-heating cycle.

    • LG gas ranges have a built in function that increases the temperature during the pre-heating cycle to improve baking performance.

    • This is the only cycle that this will occur in. The oven will cook at the set temperature during the baking cycle.

    • Gas range models LRG3091**, LRG3093**, LRG3095** and LRG3097** will pre-heat to 100 degrees higher than the set temperature.

    • Gas range double oven models LDG3031**, LDG3035**, LDG3036**, and LDG3037** will pre-heat to 75 degrees higher than the set temperature.

    • NOTE: Once the increased pre-set temperature is met, the oven will only heat to maintain the set temperature.

  6. Connect to LP gas (Liquid Propane)?

The unit must be converted for LP gas before use.

    • All LG gas unit comes ready for natural gas.

    • If the unit is connected to LP but is not converted for LP, the unit will have abnormal combustion.

    • If the unit is operated by using LP without converting it first, the Bake flames will be larger than normal and will have yellow tipping. You MUST properly convert using the installation kit provided with your unit.
