Try This

  1. Check the Water From the Kitchen Sink

If the water has a similar taste to the refrigerator, the issue is with the home's water supply. If fine, proceed to the next step.

  2. Flush the Water Tank

If rarely used, it is recommended to dispense and discard 2.5 to 3 gallons of water and any settled ice cubes to properly flush the lines. Once complete, taste the water again to see if the problem continues.

  3. Replace the Water Filter

We recommend to change the water filter every 6 months for best performance and to maintain water quality.

  4. Check the Water Supply Tubing

Ensure the recommended type of tubing is connected to the refrigerator as some types can added a chemical/metallic taste to water or ice. Replace tubing if using the incorrect type, flush 2 to 3 gallons of water, and taste the water again to see if the problems continues.

    Recommended:
    • PEX (cross-linked polyethylene) tubing.
    Not Recommended:
    • Braided plastic or Nylon tubing can impart a chemical or rubber taste. This would be most apparent in ice.
    • Plastic Non-Food Grade tubing can impart a plastic or mint taste. More apparent in ice.
    • Braided Stainless tubing generally makes the water taste like plastic or rubber because the inner tubing is made of rubber.
    • Copper tubing makes the water taste like it has a greasy or oily taste. If the copper is new, it can even give off a metallic taste in both water and ice.
