Troubleshooting No Power on an LG Dryer
[Narrator]
- Issues with an LG dryer not powering on are typically caused by a tripped circuit breaker, a faulty electrical outlet, a power outage in the home, or in rare cases a unit that requires a repair. Let’s try some troubleshooting steps.
- First, check the light. Open the dryer and see if the drum light inside is on. If the light is on but the unit will not power on, then the unit will require repair service. Please visit our Request a Repair page at lg.com/us/support
- If the light is off, check the power connection. Make sure the power cord connections at the back of the unit and at the electrical outlet are both secure.
- If the power connections are secure, turn off the circuit breaker, wait for 5 seconds, then turn the breaker back on. Note that gas units are usually installed with a single circuit breaker, but electric units use two. Now check the drum light again.
- If the light is on, try to power on and restart the unit. If the unit works as expected, then the issue is resolved. Otherwise, the unit will require repair service.
- If the light is still off, try a hard reset. To do this, unplug the dryer. Note that some power outlets are sometimes controlled by light switches on the wall. Make sure to turn the light switch on.
- While the dryer is unplugged, press and hold the Power/Start button for 5 seconds, then hold down the Play/Pause button for 5 seconds.
- Plug the unit back in and check if the light and the dryer come back on. If the unit does not power on, it will require repair service.
