Image retention, commonly referred to as "burn-in", is an issue that has plagued TVs since the days of the CRTs and plasma, caused by leaving a static image on the screen too long.

Image retention refers to any image that "sticks" on a screen, even when the content changes. It usually appears as a faint ghost, and with most TVs this fades after a moment or two.
Burn-in is a form of image retention that lasts much longer, and it's usually visible even when playing other content. It's usually caused by leaving a static image on a screen for an extended period of time.
- Channels that have a static logo, such as news channels can leave a burn-in if left for a prolonged period.
- Pausing a video game and leaving the TV on for prolonged periods.
- Having the mode set to vivid or having the brightness level very high for extended time periods.
This feature will automatically turn on after approximately 2 minutes if the TV detects no user activity when the TV is left on a No Signal screen, or a video is paused. This cannot be turned off.
This time can be shorter if using the built in TV apps.
This tool is automatically run after every 4 hours of cumulative use.
The tool will also run after 2,000 hours of cumulative use. After watching for a total of 2,000 hours or more, such as 5 hours a day for one year, the Pixel Refresher is automatically operated, and the calibration runs for about an hour once you turn off the TV.
If you notice any image retention or burn-in on your screen, you can also manually run the Pixel Refresher from your TV settings. You have 2 options to choose from:

1Start Once TV is Off will run the next time you turn your TV off.
2Start Now will turn your TV off to run the calibration.
Please note that this function will stop if the TV is turned on while it is running.
The calibration takes more than an hour to complete.
This can detect static logos on the screen and reduce their brightness to help decrease image burn-in. It has 3 settings: High, Low, and Off. Setting it to High will reduce logo brightness the most, for maximum protection.
