LG Washer – Troubleshooting Vibration Issues on an LG Washing Machine

LG washing machines are designed to operate quietly on any stable level floor in your house. If you notice your washer beginning to vibrate, it can be quickly resolved with a few troubleshooting steps

   1. Ensure the shipping bolts have been removed (if recently installed).

      In order to prevent damage to the washer during shipping, there are shipping bolts inserted on the rear of the washer to hold the tub in place. The shipping bolts consist of rubber, plastic, and metal. If not removed during installation, the tub will create excessive noise and vibration during operation.

      

      How to check the removal of the shipping fixing bolts

      1. Open the door and move the tub forward and backward.
      2. If the tub moves forward and backward, the shipping bolts have been removed, but if the tub does not move forward and backward, the shipping bolts are still inserted.
      3. Remove all shipping bolts from the rear of the washer using an appropriate wrench and plug the bolt holes with the caps provided.

   2. Reposition laundry in the drum.

      Depending on the items being washed, laundry can sometime become tangled together on one side of the washer causing the unit to become unbalanced. Make sure the laundry is evenly spread around the tub. If required, pause the cycle, evenly distribute the laundry in the washer, then resume the cycle.

      Note

      If vibrations happen during the wash, pause the cycle and the unit will manually drain after 4 minutes. Once drained, reposition the laundry and restart the cycle.

      

   3. Confirm the washer is level.

      Place your hands on diagonal corners of the washer and try to rock it. If you feel shaking when rocking the washing machine to the front, back, or side, use the appropriate wrench to adjust the legs of the washer on the affected side(s).

      

   4. Run a test cycle.

      1. Press the POWER button to turn the washer on.
      2. Press the RINSE & SPIN button.
      3. Press the START/PAUSE button.
      4. Wait for the washer to fill and begin the rinse agitation.
      5. Press the START/PAUSE button to pause the cycle, then press the POWER button to turn the washer off.
      6. Press the POWER button to turn the washer back on.
      7. Press the SPIN SPEED button to select a high spin speed. This will perform a spin only cycle.

      If no vibration is present, try adjusting the load size and try again.

3. 1. Confirm the washer is level.

      Once you have finished leveling, check that the tub is centered and not leaning to one side. If leaning to one side, try adjusting the leveling legs again until centered.
