Noises during load sensing - Top Load Washer
Start button is pressed, but the water does not fill immediately and the washer makes a clicking noise.
Newer washer models automatically adjust the amount of water and the cycle time based on the weight of the laundry in the tub.
The load sensor operates for about 1 minute before water is supplied.
Before detecting the laundry weight, the washing plate moves to the left and right to align the gears of the motor. At this time, it may cause a "clicking" noise.
After aligning the gears of the motor, the tub rotates for about 30 seconds in one direction to detect the weight of the laundry.
Once load sensing is complete, the fill level, selected cycle, number of rinses, and spin speed are calculated and a total estimated time is displayed as water is supplied.
