[LG refrigerator with ice maker] The ice maker does not dispense ice.

Troubleshooting

You have a refrigerator with water purifier, but ice is not dispensed?

Ice made in the ice maker of a refrigerator with water purifier is stored in the ice container and comes out through the dispenser when you press the Ice button.
However, if the ice maker is not used for a long period, ice cubes may become stuck together.
In this case, separate the ice cubes in the ice container so that they can be dispensed easily.
Moreover, if the refrigerator was installed recently, please wait as it may take some time until the refrigerator gets cold enough to produce ice.

Causes and Symptoms

  • The ice maker is turned off.
  • Ice cubes are stuck together and won’t be dispensed.
  • Not enough time has elapsed since the refrigerator was installed.
  • The water valve is closed.

Are ice cubes stuck together in the ice container?

➔ Separate the ice cubes stuck together or discard them.

If you press the Ice Maker button, but you can only hear the sound of the motor and ice won’t come out, pull out and shake the ice container to separate the ice cubes that are stuck together.
If the ice cubes are still stuck together even after you shake the ice container, discard them and make fresh ice.

Did you just install the refrigerator?

➔ It takes time to generate enough cold air to reach the freezing temperature suitable for ice making. Ice will be made after some time.

After plugging in the power cord, the refrigerator starts producing cold air after 1 to 2 hours.
At the start of operation, the refrigerator will first operate to cool the food in the refrigerator.
Then after the temperature drops by a sufficient level, the refrigerator will start making ice.
In general, it takes about three hours for 20°C water to be completely frozen, but it may take more than 12 hours until the refrigerator makes ice when the refrigerator is first installed.
