LG ELECTRONICS TACKLES POOR INDOOR AIR QUALITY TO CREATE A HEALTHY HOME ENVIRONMENT

DUBAI, October 21, 2019 – Air pollution remains an issue at both a global and local level. According to the United Nations, air pollution is the single greatest environmental threat to health. The UN estimates that around the world, 9 out of 10 people breathe contaminated outdoor air which exceeds the acceptable levels indicated by the World Health Organization[1].

Countries in the GCC are also working towards striking a balance between creating growth and improving the environment for their citizens, implementing policies within their national agendas to tackle this head on. A YouGov survey conducted earlier this year found that 57% of UAE residents are also taking active measures to reduce air pollution, indicating growing desire from the local population to tackle improving air quality[2].

An area often overlooked is indoor air pollution, which can be between two to five times higher than outdoor air pollution. With people spending up to 90% of their time indoors, it is more crucial than ever for homeowners to also consider how to protect their internal environments.

As a company focused on improving the quality of life for citizens around the world, LG Electronics (LG) continues to invest in improving the efficiency of its range of air purifiers – helping residents manage their home environments with greater visibility and ease.

Mitigating exposure to household pollutants, the LG PuriCare Air Purifier is designed to ensure optimum air quality levels indoors for better health outcomes. It features a Clean Booster which rises and rotates to deliver clean air to all corners of a room, via a 70° Rotation Circulator. With the added benefit of its Clean Booster, the PuriCare can remove dust up to 74% faster.

Its 6-step filtration system works to eliminate various types of harmful dust and gases, which may not only be a result of the external environment, but also the likes of fragrances, aerosol sprays and cleaning products used within the household on a daily basis. Using PM1.0 and gas sensors, the smart indicator also detects and alerts the user of the current air quality status.

For enhanced convenience, the user can control their PuriCare Air Purifiers remotely with LG’s ThinQ mobile application. Whether at home, or on-the-go, the PuriCare can be set in motion or powered down with ease. On the application, homeowners can access a detailed breakdown of indoor air quality across areas, including super ultra-fine dust, ultra-fine dust, fine-dust and odor, allowing them to prioritize their health at home.
